In short: Great playground
In full: This is a great venue to hold a 10k race even though it is a two lap race. The organisation was superb. You could even have a dip in the lake afterwards(!). Really nice cafe overlooking the lake. The day was as hot as it gets and was without cover. The trees at the end of the race were a must. It would be nice to use this venue to run a half marathon using the river.

In short: A well-organised and fun race
In full: After running on tow paths and pavements on busy, open roads in recent weeks, the traffic-free flat tarmac round two laps of Dorney Lake was a welcome change. Accurate Km markers, water points every 2.5Km on a blisteringly hot morning and bottled water/ mars bars at the finish with a unique medal were nice touches. Good fun and highly recommended - a much better bet than the British 10K.

In short: organised and not over crowded
In full: One of the hottest days of the year and they put on extra water stations and provided sun cream etc. Felt you were looked after!

In short: Good for a PB but too hot on the day
In full: A well organised, friendly race. Course is pretty much as flat as you are going to get. I was worried it would be dull running laps of the lake and that seeing the race leaders scooting off into the distance would be demoralising. This proved not to be the case. The course is layed out very sensibly in that respect so even though I was well down the field (48mins) it never felt like everybody else was miles ahead. Plenty of water which was essential given the heat which was intense. I think that on a cooler day I could have smashed my PB on this course. As it was, it took all my willpower just to keep going without throwing up. Very fancy medal.

In short: All at cruising speed
In full: Not a lot to see apart from the lake, but great for maintining a constant pace. So it was warmish waiting around but once on the move there was a slight breeze. Very well organised , km markers accurate, results out the same day, free sunscreen, showers, wide prize lists - great !
