In short: Great value for a half marathon, it sets the standard!
In full: Everything you could ask for from a race, big enough to have good atmosphere but there is still room to run even from the start, chip timing, a tech t-shirt, goody bag and a cup of tea at the end. One of the first races to go in the 2014 diary for me.

In short: A special race.
In full: Well done Sleaford Striders. What a truly lovely event. I really enjoyed the course, even though the undulations were a little 'testing' at times. (I much prefer hilly/undulating courses, the same-old flat fast course can be quite monotonous at times!) Great organization from start to finish. Encouraging marshalls - good idea to have them strategically placed near finish line to give runners a final 'boost'! Free cuppa post race was smashing. Tec T-shirt was nice too. A few nice bits in goody bag. And photos! What more could you want...? Oh,yes - a PB! (Got it)I wonder if Newton's Fraction is as good. Roll on Sunday...

In short: Well marshalled and friendly
In full: There seem to be few hills around this part of the world and the inclines on this route are mostly very gentle making this a fast course. The farm tracks are out of the way early on leaving you to concentrate on long straight roads. There were plenty of marshalls encouraging the runners and the airforce base is a great location for the start and finish - you get a great view of the finish from the elevated race HQ. Enjoyed it.

In short: Grass, trail & road! A good challenge.
In full: First time for me this year and I ran a PB. I reckon that's a pretty good endorsement. Start at RAF Cranwell really well organised and chip timing is always a plus for me. Race set off across grassy fields and after a short spell on tarmac we were on a farmer's track. The frost made the rutted ground a little tricky but it would have been worse in wet mud. After a mile onto tarmac for the rest of the route with long straight sections and long gentle climbs before returning to the grass for the last 1/2 mile. Loved the fluorescent technical t-shirt which will get lots of use for training and the hot cup of tea was a nice touch. All in all a good event and great value for money, just not sure about that farmer's track section.

In short: Good time trial sort of race
In full: well organised with very friendly, supportive and efficient marshalls. Goody bag wasn't quite goody (a cereal bar, banana, bird food, massage gel and some leaflets) but the t-shirt is excellent.

In short: 3rd time - keeps getting better
In full: A new PB for me in bitterly cold conditions, but once again the Sleaford Half was a super run. Marshals were very encouraging - thanks for the jelly babies - organisation was first rate, hot showers and a hot cuppa at the end. A great t-shirt, banana and goodie bag made my day. Thanks Sleaford for another great event and I look forward to trying to knock off the pesky 29 seconds next year to come under 1 hour 40!

In short: My 3rd outing was my best.
In full: Sleaford 1/2 is one of my favorite local events. After missing last years race I was rearing to go for this one. This year the muddy section was fine although still energy sapping and I lost about 30s going through it.

The biggest plus point I can find is the sheer value for money. You cannot get better. For £13 I got a great race, a fantastic technical t-shirt, a hot drink, a banana and a goodie bag.

And to top it off I ran a p.b.

Brilliant.

See you next year (weather permitting).
