In short: Clubby, elitist, mis-represented, but wonderful marshals!!
In full: Three miles of grass and rutted four-wheel drive track do not make a 'road' race!! If you didn't run for a club..... every attempt at conversation was ignore, the instructions at the start could not be heard at the back, and the queue for the tea was unbelievable. I like a souvenir of a race, but all i got was a shirt advertising the sponsors, and a bunch of flyers (and i don't do long sleeves). Would it be too much for the organisers to put an explanation and an apology on their website, or is it a case we've had your money, goodbye!!
Its a handy half to me to kick start the season, but i've never been made less welcome, anywhere, ever. Would I do it again - never!! And i got a PB by 6 minutes so should have better feelings about it!

In short: Disapointing lack of information
In full: From a spectator point of view, I was disapointed with the lack of communication to everyone clearly stood at the finish waiting for runners to come back. There must have been 30-40 people waiting for family members to finish, the only person to inform us was the race winner. Why couldn't the organisers standing there also have told us ?

In short: Great course through scenic countryside. A few little undulations to keep you on your toes and the wind certainly contributed. All in all a good race which is recommended to all to try.

In short: Tougher than I expected . . . .
In full: There was a minor mistake at the start . so what, the organiser's recovered well, maybe we could have done with a bit more warning of the abrupt ending. The marshals were great, the goody bag was ok,(i prefer to keep the entry fee as low as poss.). It was an enjoyable and friendly race at the end of the day, well worth a go next year. Thank you for all those involved in organising this.

In short: A bit of a mess at the start and not helped by the conditions
In full: There was a bit of a cock up at the start which eveyone has commented on. This wasn't as much of a problem as the long cold walk back to the changing room. Fun runners got medals goodie bag had flyers, some salt and an isotonic gel. T shirt was ok though. Marshalls were great and always cheering people on. I would come back again if only to see it sorted out next year.

In short: Very hard race for me the beginner,
In full: Wasn't exspecting to do a lot of grass and track running, this really put me out of my stride which i struggled to get back throughout the race. Something wrong with the 1 mile marker, it really knocked my ego for six. It's a good job the other runners had noticed the mistake as well. Wind in your face on the long flat part around 8-10miles just about saw me off. glad to get over the finishing line. tea could of been better, no chance of me waiting in the cold for 20mins. Would of liked a medal to show people that i'd done my first half marathon, but you can't have everything.

In short: Great event...... roll on 2009
In full: Think the poeple who have slammed this years event were running with there eyes closed, think they should get together and organise an event of this scale and see how they get on. yes there was a bit of a mishap at the start but was rectified efficiently and in time for the first runners home. These things happen, plenty worse has gone on at other events. Fab course though, bit up n down but well thought out and nicely challenging. Marshalls are fantastic.... and to the Jelly Baby lady xxxxxx thankyou. As for the Tea Wagon thingy, cant blame the Striders for that, that has to be down to the people that run the business. I will be back next year, and would highly reccomend this to all runners of all standards. Well done Sleaford Striders.
