In short: Another great race - tough but keeps calling me back!
In full: I can't sty away from this one - my 3rd running and great final training for eithe Beachy Head or Snowdonia marathons two weeks later. Thanks to all the marshals again, doing a great job as usual. Nice to be cheered off by the 8k racers beforehand! I'll definitely be back next year.

In short: Thanks once again
In full: Many thanks to Sam and all those who help him put this on; once again it was a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

If they want to chnage anything then:

1. Ask runners to keep to the off road cliff top path (not the tarmac cycle lane) between the marina and Rottingdean both on the way out and the way back; it's advertised as a trail race so this would seem to keep with the spirty of the event.

2. Place the Rottingdean water station at the top of the road by the reservoir; no need to interupt the long down hill and brings it a bit closer to the previous one.

Cheers - Raymond H

In short: mountain goats would struggle
In full: never done a race over 13 miles before and i dont think this one was designed for novice long distance runners. challenging is not the word but very happy with my time. More of a race to trin for than a marathon trainer i think maybe i will do some more hills before trying it again

In short: Challenging mainly off-road route with some glorious views over the South Downs
In full: A friendly small race on the South Downs with some killer hills. A gentle on-road start for the first 4 miles or so before the big hills kick in at about 5 miles. Fantastic views from the top make it all worthwhile and a downhill to finish.

A very small gripe is the distance between the last two water stations - about 7 miles I think. If it had been a hot day I would have really suffered at this stage.

Also it's billed as 90% off road but at least 6 miles are on pavement or tarmac - just something to consider when deciding on the shoes to wear.

Overall a fantastic run, well worth doing.

In short: Another tough day out on the hills!
In full: This was my fourth JS and I spent much of the run asking myself why I was doing it again. It is a tough cookie and the field seemed smaller and a bit faster this year. Its a great course though - lovely views and its always good to be out off road in the countryside. Great prep for Beachy.

In short: Testing run for anyone, wether a pro,or a casual runner.
In full: One for the brave if you have'nt done this distance.Supposed to be a marathon trainer but i think it is a run that is unique, and should be one to train for, and marked in the diary as a yearly "pilgrimage". This run is more of a test for oneself rather than a race.Friendly people ,great views and a pleasant atmosphere.See you next year.
