In short: love it In full: it is tough with hills over the first few miles before it goes down. i aim to do it in under 80 mins, when i do i often go portsmorth and get a PB. My wife is expecting our first child on the 26th Aug and has said i can run it!!! spoke to the organiser who has said it should be ok for me to enter on the day, how is that for service. (going for a PB this year) Date of review: April 14, 2011
In short: Tough but well worth doing In full: First 3 miles all up hill but from mile 4 it's basically all down hill. Weather this year was terrible, more akin to October, but on a fairer day it would have been very enjoyable despite being very challenging. Good facilities at the start and finish. In short: A pleasant friendly race with a hilly first half and fast second half. In full: I enjoyed the race although the weather couldn't make its mind up as we had freezing wind and rain followed by sunshine.
The first 3 miles are tough, the next 3 fairly tough, then it goes down hill for a while, then a bit of an uphill final mile.
Marshalling friendly and well organised. Technical t-shirt, 3 water stations. Date of review: August 31, 2010
In short: Very well organised, nice route, highly recommended In full: This race is very well organised and marshalled. Sufficiently hilly to feel challenging, and great if you want something longer than a 10k but haven't the time or energy for a marathon. Shame about the weather at the start - but at least it wasn't too cold. Brightened up during the back 5. Enjoyed this race and will probably do it again next year. Date of review: August 30, 2010
In short: hard as nails to mile 3 then gets much faster... In full: lovely and challenging race, plenty of supportive marshalls throughout the route and a mostly scenic affair, the steep ascent from mile 2 to 3 a real pace killer, but mostly downhill after that, comfortable race HQ with plentiful parking and toilets Date of review: August 29, 2010
In short: Hills, rain, sunshine, this race had it all! In full: Nasty hill at mile 3, but a great race, great support from the marshalls and well signposted and organised. Date of review: August 29, 2010
In short: A hilly tour of countryside near Chesterfield In full: So long as you`re fit enough to get up the 3 miles of progressive hills in decent shape, you`re rewarded with some flat and plenty of steady downhills (I ran the second half of the race 4 minutes quicker than the first!).
The marshalls were really encouraging on a nasty weather day and the t-shirt given to finishers was high quality. A really nice race. Date of review: August 29, 2010
