In short: Arrive early to avoid parking problems. Excellent route for 1st HM, great PB Potential. Marshalls all very encouraging. Clear mile markers, lots of water stations. Very even up down course. Definately be back next year. Well done organisers! In full: Great support throughout the whole route. Shame about the weather, but made it easier in a way, lovely cooling mist! In short: good 1st attempt. Few teething problems, but has good potential to grow in years to come. In full: got there nice and early so did'nt see traffic problems.the start was a bit sudden with no warning of siren, and pot-holed track for 1st 400 metres could have been dangerous with the early stampede.that said,a nice course, good atmos, well marshalled and nice goody bag.shame about the rain.Worth another look next year. In short: very friendly race but what did they put in the water? In full: the lengthy traffic jams to get in meant it was all a bit rushed to get to the start on time, but well worth doing. loads of friendly folk about, but what on earth had they put in the water? and maybe next year they could provide slightly more appropriate vessels to drink out of, the plastic cups were a nightmare. In short: Well done for a first time event, nice course, some room for improvement but I'll be back. In full: Was pleasantly surprised that the organisation was good given it was the first time and with 3 races I thought that might be a bit chaotic. Had a 15 minute delay getting in (10:15 to 10:30) which was due to the rain and that set of traffic lights near the entrance - why didn't all those police do something instead of watching it get worse?
Course has only two mildly uphill bits and no major traffic problems, although I did have to plough through a few big puddles that extended too far into the road to run around.
Apart from the weather related problems, good improvements for next year would be Malvern spring water instead of swimming pool water; and more accurate positioning of the mile markers would help with increasing PB potential.
Overall, it was good (given the weather) and on a dry, clear day would be a fantastic route with great scenery. Date of review: May 22, 2006
In short: First time event was excellently staged. Mile markers displayed plenty of water stations and plenty of marshalls. The course was fine, never noticed the traffic issues as I arrived early. Weather was a shame, but back next year!! Date of review: May 22, 2006
