In short: Scenic, Great if the weather is nice In full: Seemed a good race, nice views across teh malvern hills, with a good mix of country roads, and little villages to run through. There was a couple of climbs, but nothing too drastic.
maybe im being biased as i managed a PB there (1:44) but then i will be there next year, aiming to beat it. Date of review: July 17, 2008
In short: Great family event! In full: We get great support from Acorns so event is very important to us! The chicken run and related activities keep the family entertained while I bumble round. Ran 1/2 marathon for the first time last year - roads are fine, and achieved a pb despite the wind! The chickens and I will be back next year! Really friendly - and for a great charity. In short: Is a nice event- friendly & attractive scenery-but beware if you suffer from hayfever! In full: In general this was quite an enjoyabel event- the reason why I stated that I wouldn't run it again though was because I felt pretty rough through out the race as I suffer with hayfever and the route is all along country lanes and was exposed to a high pollen count which ruined the experience for me. On a postive note -it was a friendly event and everyone seemed to enjoy it- the voluteers were lovely & very encouraging! One factor that could be improved was that there were very few water stations and rather than bottled water they gave small cups of water instead- However, I carried a bottle with me and they offered to fill it up which was good. If they uped the free for the race but gave out more water I would have been happier to pay that. Despite this, I realise that this is a low budget race which aims to raise as much money for 'Acorns charity' as possible. This is a very postive factor and makes it such a worth while event! In short: Well worth getting up on a Sunday morning for! In full: This year was my first time at this race, but I will be back! I didn't mind running on the roads and I thought everyone was really friendly. Weather was lovely apart from running into the wind for the last few miles. Thank you Acorns for a lovely race in aid of a great cause. Date of review: June 23, 2008
In short: Another good Malvern Half, despite being blown off course! In full: Was my third time here, and found it as enjoyable as ever. The rain was replaced by wind this year, blowing you off into the common at the 11/12 mile stage, and the last 1/4 mile into the headwind for the home straight was just evil! Many thanks to the great marshalls once again thought ;-) Date of review: June 23, 2008
In short: Excellent facilities at start/finish along with the opportunity to combine will all ages and abilities to raise funds for a vital cause. In full: I'm sure as the years go on the course gets hillier, and the wind in the last 5 yesterday didn't help. IMO the following wind also made the pace in the first half of the race faster than I expected.
The spacing between the water stations does need thought, but this is the first year the rain hasn't been pouring down.
Thanks to the organisers and marshalls. Date of review: June 23, 2008
In short: A great race for a good cause In full: A well organized event...and for a worthy charity. The wind was strong on the way back in...A few times I thought I was actually on a treadmill, as I seemed to be not moving forward.I preferred this years medal too, from the running acorn for the last two yrs. Thanks to all the organizers, marshalls etc for a great day out. see you next year. Date of review: June 23, 2008
