In short: A great race In full: A race I always look upon fondly. Incredible weather this year, with the freezing downpour stopping literally as soon as the runners made it out of the three counties showground. A pleasant course (although the gradual climb at mile 11 always catches me out) support is always warm, friendly and very encouraging, and both the chicken run and the 5k race are superb. Looking forward to next year already! Date of review: June 28, 2009
In short: Great venue, well organised, with PB potential In full: This was my first half marathon in 20 years. Course was fast and did not walk once!! Managed to finish 13 minutes ahead of projected time. Great race - will 100% be back next year with kids to do the fun/chicken runs. Well done to organisers. Date of review: June 22, 2009
In short: This race improves with age... In full: Have run this every year now, and I have to say that they keep managing to improve it bit by bit as they get more experienced with it. Weather was fine just after the start, so conditions were great for running, meaning I could run the whole way round without walking for once, and was within 1 min of my PB, so was very happy! Revised water station locations worked very well, and were well manned, and good support by the marshalls and locals. Many thanks to all. Will definately be back in 2010. In short: My Favourite Course In full: Everything about this race is spot on. The course is great (almost flat) and the organisation is superb. There's loads of nearby parking and the Three Counties Showground is simply an ideal location to begin and end the race. There's LOADS of space for runners and their families to wonder around and there's always lots to do. I've got my two fastest ever times for a half-marathon on this coure and I love it! I'll be back again next year. Date of review: June 9, 2009
In full: It was a first time for me; I thought the Three Counties Show Ground was a fantastic start and finish point with ample cover for changing and toilets. As recommended arrive early as it can get a bit snarled up just prior to the start at the traffic light just outside the show ground. Parking is only a few hundred meters from the start / finish point.
The route was fast and kind to runners who may be lacking tip top stamina......A very well marshalled route and beautiful views of the country side. Water stops well manned and gratefully received at aprox 4, 6, 9, 12 mile point.
Good opportunity for family and friend to stop and cheer from the 5 mile point onwards.
An excellent event, I will highly recommend it, Well done to all involved in the organisation and fielding. A great first time experience, Thank you
In short: Fast adaptation to adverse weather conditions made this an excellent event In full: Weather wet as usual - organisers used extra covered accommodation to make life easier for competitors and spectators. As it was miraculously and against all forecasts the rain stopped to leave ideal conditions.
3 Counties Showground is an excellent race HQ will plenty of toilets and room to warm up.
The route was much more scenic without the hollowing winds of last year. I got a pb by nearly 2 mins in the benign conditions.
Organisation good as in previous years - hopefully the hospice will have made plenty. Date of review: June 7, 2009
