In short: Wet, windy, hilly but no fault of the organiser In full: Weather was terrible, wind, rain, freezing cold, but obviously no fault of the organiser. Start is on a little farm with a couple of barns to hang out in and a snack van. Reg was easy and went quick and smooth.
Only gripe was the walk from the school to the farm to start, but that would have been fine in the dry.
As said the km markers were out but that isn't too much of an issue as i use a garmin.
Scenery was great but the course is more hilly than they make out, take advantage of the downhill sections.
Friendly other runners, a good mix of serious and newbies.
In full: As mentioned by others, the weather was pretty wet. The shelter at the start was very welcome! The period between heading to the start line and the race starting felt longer than ideal in the weather.
The km markers were all over the place in the first 6-7km which made it difficult to gauge pace and the actual total course length was nearer 10.5km than 10km. Think this can be resolved pretty easily for future years.
Overall, an okay event in the quiet January calendar - could be improved slightly for future years though. Date of review: February 7, 2014
In short: A great run, even with the horrendous weather. In full: The weather was absolutely awful, however there was still a decent turnout and buzz about the place.
The line up was very mixed, coupled with serious runners and those who were obviously on their first 10k - it worked very well.
The course is lovely - you firstly run through a very pretty village and then out into the countryside. In decent weather, I'm sure it would have been a fabulous route. There are also a good couple of hills to challenge you.
Most of the marshalls were great, a couple could have been a bit more enthusiastic (but it really was dreadful weather):-)
I'll definitely be back next year - and hope that the weather is better.
Thanks for a brilliant run : ) Date of review: January 27, 2014
In short: Great event despite the terrible weather! In full: Literally the worst weather for a race ever but i still really enjoyed myself!
Parking absolutely fine, there was a good level of shelter from the elements at the start and the post run stuff (medal, drinks, recovery food etc) was excellent. Marshalls were really great despite the wind and the rain and all it all the organisation was excellent.
The course isnt as flat as the website makes out. There are certainly a few challenging hills from 5k to as far as 9k but all in all a good opportunity for a useful time with a fast first 5k.
The distance markers were a little optimistic i think, especially in the first 5k! The distances seemed to be more accurate in the last 5k though.
Had a great day despite the weather and will be looking to return next year! Recommended for all. Date of review: January 27, 2014
