In short: Torrential rain didn't stop it being an excellent race.
In full: Despite the horrendous weather, the atmosphere was good and everyone seemed up for it. Very well organised with minimal bag drop queues, although the bathrooms could've been more plentiful to ease pre-race nerves a little. It was nice to see the kids go out for their 1km too, a good idea. The marshals were great too - all in all a great race, although even without the weather the course would be tough to get a PB on (it's not very flat!). Goodie-bag was decent, but no medal which was a shame. Even so, I'd do it again (hopefully with better weather next year!).

In full: The race was a bit of a let down, I can't believe that for £15 we couldn't get medals or even a t-shirt and there was nothing of any value in the goody bag except maybe the canvas bag itself. The children who ran 1k did get medals and I was lucky enough to nab one of these. there were also letting people have a t-shirt at the end of the event for a 'donation' I only had £2.50 in change which they accepted, but the bloke next to me had 2 £10 notes and was made to pay a tenner? It wasn't a flat route and that added to the torrential rain, gale force winds, which we ran into on the final 500m that was on wet slippery grass meant no sprint finish or PB for me!

In short: Weather made the race that more special
In full: Firstly, hats off to the race organizers and volunteers who managed to make the day worthwhile despite the hideous weather conditions. However, must admit the challenges brought about by the weather made the race that more special. I felt great finishing it!

In full: We all got absolutely drenched, it was raining so hard I could not keep my eyes open during the race!!
Despite the horrible weather the atmosphere was very friendly and the marshalls were fantastic cheering on runners despite the rain. Unfortunately the terrain was not the best, I was expecting a flat course as this run was meant to be beginner friendly but unfortunately the hills going up and down were an absolute killer and would certainly not expect a PB out of it! Goody bag was average but the best bit was definitely the Tetley van offering free tea and cake which was a blessing especially after the end of the race being all cold and wet!!
It is a friendly run but feel it is rather expensive considering you do not even get a T-shirt out of it, if I knew that some of the money went towards the charity then I would feel a bit better about it!

In short: Wet and freezing and not flat!
In full: A few qualms from the beginners gathering about the terrain which most definitely isn't flat! The course consists of laps round the park which whilst a little tedious espcially when being lapped (!) did enable groups of different runners to meet and cheer each other on.
Today's review was influenced by the heavy rain, wind and even hail at one stage, but the two or three marshalls I saw were cheery and the starter, timing were all great.
Free tea for everyone but 10 loos (approximately) for so many runners was craziness!

In short: A nice way to spend a Sunday morning in November!
In full: Very well organised event though quite a low key build-up for such an important cause. Chip timing was great and facilities in general were excellent. Will look forward to taking part again in 2009.

In short: 1st ever 10k - bit of a shock as it was NOT a flat route!
In full: This was my 1st ever race so a bit nervous & not really sure what to expect. I was surprised at how hard the route was as it was not flat - those gradients really provided a challenge I wasn't expecting. Also, I wasn't able to sprint finish as the grass was really wet & muddy and I was nervous of slipping in front of all the spectators! Hope not all 10ks are like this. There were definitely not enough toilets and difficult at finish line as so many had congregated around it when I finished at 55m. The results were available so quickly which was excellent. If other more seasoned runners thought this was challenging I feel proud to have finished in the time I did.
