In short: Tough but rewarding In full: As this was my first off road marathon I approached with a philosophical mind. Wasn't sure about the laps. Wasn't sure about the mud! Had a great time and somehow got within 10 minutes of my "road" personal best. Two inclines are hills by the end and not to be taken lightly. Overall would recommend but not for your first marathon. In short: Really enjoyable, friendly race. In full: Not usually a fan of off road races, I really enjoyed this run. It was well organised, friendly, encouraging marshalls, free tea and cake and a great atmosphere. Had a great time despite the chilly weather and would definitely do this race again. In short: Definitely worth getting up for In full: This was my first half marathon and 2nd trail run. But my shoes tackled the mud and hills perfectly.I found the hills quite brutal towards the end but they were part of the challenge. I suffered with a previous knee injury but still crossed the line in a respectable time for my experience. The organisers where helpful and supportive and made the experience worthwhile. One of the sponsors didn't turn up which I found to be rather disrespectful but that didn't effect the race. I'll definitely consider doing this again next year and beat my time Date of review: November 1, 2012

In short: Thoroughly enjoyed In full: I'm a 'newby' to off road running and was scared at the start when trail shoes were recommended! However plenty of people managed in trainers like me and it was OK. There were 6 laps for this half and the first lap I thought 'it's not hilly just undulating' but by the next lap they felt more like hills. Always short though, no long drags. The atmosphere and organisation were splended and I thoroughly appreciated the tea (even if badly made!) and cake at the end. I was anxious about the bag storage being the space behind the registration desk and put my bag in unnecessarily early because of this but most runners seemed to driver there and not require bag storage. The course was 50% undulations on grass and 50% muddy trails in the woods. I ran 14 mins slower than my pb (of 2 hours) and i will definitely be back next year! Thanks to the marshalls/organisers. In short: Very respectable, and very scenic In full: Nice race, although don't expect a personal best on this course - takes in forest and hills. Probably challenging for a beginner. Great refreshments - they're there at the end of every lap of this course (every 3.5k). Brill chunky medal. Only fault is lack of showers on site. 2nd time I've done this race - would enjoy doing it again. Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: A hard off road marathon not to be underestimated with excellent organisation. In full: I enjoyed this marathon I thought the organisation and marshals were excellent. The park and route was very scenic but the hills are not to be underestimated. However it was a rewarding and personally I love laps as I find it breaks down into chunks which are psychologically easier. For those looking for something different from the city marathons this is a good bet. Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: 12 laps, 24 hills. :-( In full: 12 x 3.5k laps around Weald Country Park. 2 tough climbs per lap - well, they don't start off being that tough by lap by lap they getting longer and higher. Well organised event with chip timing from the Go Beyond Ultra crew. Free tea, coffee and cake available for competitors. T-shirt and medal as momento's and reasonably cheap to enter. Will probably be back next year for the 3rd successive year. Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: Well organised but... In full: Try having one free web entry page, every penny helps in this economic climate. Some fantasitc marshalls, especially my friend from Gateshead (you are a long way from home). The medal could do with the name of the event on, not just the ribbon. I found the uneven grass in particular hard on the feet, could give rise to an injury. I found the support from the public minimal, I know it was a large loop but once we left the start/finish to soon evaporated and we were on our own apart from the marshalls. In short: A scenic route on the challenging side with excellent organisation. In full: Half marathoners helped the first half fly by for me. The route is quite diverse, open field and shaded woodland, some challenging ups and downs too. Marshalls felt like old friends at the end. Will certainly consider repeating in 2012 and am investigating other Go Beyond events. Date of review: October 31, 2011
