In short: Enjoyed it for the 3rd time In full: This was my 3rd time doing the 10k,loved it again even though I wasn't ready for it. Organisation was slick and fun, marshals were mostly great one texting while shouting well done keep going was a little odd but thanked her anyway. Faster runners starting in the wave after mine passing me giving encouragement meant a lot. People moaning about the cost wont be missed next year, but i'll be there again I run events because I want to not because of the price.See you next year. Date of review: June 30, 2015
In short: Rat Race = Money Grabbing Gits In full: I need to echo the previous comment. When you look at events such as Reading half where they need to pay for road closures in a major town, a fleet of buses to ferry people to and from the station, hire of the Madajski stadium for the start and finish, and then you look at what Rat Race had to provide ... I have no idea how they can defend themselves against profiteering. They then have the cheek to add an "administration charge" of 4.99% to the entry fee and bump the price up (over and above the advertised price on their web site) if you pay on the day.
Rat Race Gits aside, the venue is fantastic, marshalling was good, results were quick to be produced (and so to were the photos) . Only gripes about the organisation is the finish 200m was across very uneven, rutted ground where a sprint finish would have been suicidal.
In short: Way too expensive. Rip-off. In full: Never again! Go to Clumber Park and run freely in your own time as it's beautiful.Don't pay nearly £50 to Rat Race for the privilege. Date of review: June 28, 2015
In short: The best organised event - EVER In full: They have thought of everything at this event - phased starts so phased registration / plenty of toilets / pre race free water /organised pre race warm ups / pre race briefings / good well signed course with both kilometre & mileage markers / great event village with things to occupy supporters with families/ quality food & drink available/ great good bag with medal - T shirt etc etc oh and the race, great course which is testing but scenic. I cannot prior this enough Date of review: June 28, 2015
In short: Excellent, if expensive, trail race In full: I really enjoyed this event. There were next to no club runner vests (maybe something to do with RunBritain Ranking not recognising the event?) about and was very beginner friendly. As an experienced road runner this was a fresh change and was very enjoyable, especially if you don't anticipate smashing your PB and enjoy your surroundings. Date of review: June 30, 2014
In short: Well organised trail run. In full: Did the half marathon option. Clumber park is a great venue. Most of the race is off road on very scenic trails through the forest. Harder than a road half marathon, but nothing too challenging. Organisation was great, thank you to all the marshals involved.. Can only think of one slight gripe, like the previous reviewer, would have liked a different t-shirt for the half. That said, medal and goody bag were great. Would recommend this race to anybody new to trail running. Date of review: June 29, 2014
In short: Another great event... In full: I opted for the half marathon this year rather than the 10k because it was the first time. As usual the organisation, marshals and village were superb, my only gripe was (me personally) that I would have liked a separate t-shirt to signify the half marathon especially as it was the first time the distance was run. In short: Great fun - great goody bag! In full: Suitable for beginners as well as PB chasers. Very well organised and the goody bag had 17 separate items, all useful - must be some sort of record! Date of review: May 22, 2013
