In full: Echo other comments that an earlier start would be welcome in order to reduce likelihood of it getting too hot. Didn't suit me at all this year as a result and will make me look to a late entry in future before deciding whether to run or not. Agree that an undated mug was poor reward for a quite high entry fee. A hard run surely deserves a medal at the very least? Best part of the day for me was good organisation, great marshalls (thank you!) and decent crowds along the way, but still didn't help enough in that heat! Date of review: May 20, 2014
In short: Well organised and friendly In full: I agree that it would have been better with an earlier start, as at this time of year there is a reasonable chance of the sort of weather we had! Was surprised the mug didn't have a year on it, anyway minor point. My second time on this and will definitely do again. Cheers to all the officials Date of review: May 20, 2014
In short: Good local race.Lots of marshals - and lots of loos! In full: Overall, a very well organised local race - incl lots of loos so didn't have to queue for long. Undulating course with first half around housing estate. Exit from car park took forever, and no tea + cakes for sale (that I could find) but otherwise very good. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Very well organised, but could be better with a couple of small tweaks. In full: Great atmosphere, and plenty of things to keep non-runners occupied, so a real credit to the organisers. Only down points that could be improved would be to have an earlier start, and to invest in the memento. The weather was brutally hot today, and although it's not like that every year, a 10am or earlier start would really help. In terms of the 'goody bag / memento' a mug and nothing to eat really isn't giving value for money. Please, please, please go back to the great medals that this event used to have. In short: A tale of two halfs In full: 1st half loops through a housing estate, which is a bit dull, but sneaks in some undulatings without you noticing. Great hill up to halfway, last half has a great downhill for a mile then we're into countryside so a great 3 miles on undulating roads, then a magnificant downhill back to the town, before a sting in the tail and onto the finish.
Great organisation, facilities (showers always a bonus), mug AND pack of mints!! Cheap as chips as entered early and affiliated.
In short: A little bit more attention to detail needed for 2014! In full: This is the 3rd time i have run this race and it,s one of those events where everything normally goes like clockwork, So the few glitches this tear seemed magnified!-First of all, Although they ststed on the event home page that the 10 mile finishers would receive mugs this year, They did not remove the line "Every finisher will receive a medal" which attracted some criticism. Secondly there was a false start which did not affect me, But it must have been frustrating for the elite runners, lastly they were a bit slow posting the results this year. However the positives far outweigh the negatives for this event, It has a fair priced entry with entry on the day available, A fete at the start which is great for families and the 2 mile runners and 10 milers on the course see each other running in the opposite direction. The event is also great for spectators as they see their runner twice on the loop of the playing field at the start, They can then cut through 2 streets and see there runner at mile 6 before making their way back to the Recreation ground to see their runner finish!-This is a great event and i,m sure the glitches will be sorted out for 2014!-As long as i,m healthy and not injured-I will be there!
