In short: Brilliant that canicrossers could join in In full: I had a very enjoyable experience of running this very muddy route with my running buddy - Buster. We were not quick but all marshals very encouraging and signage really easy to follow. Good registration experience too. Don't expect a PB - the mud and icy water helps to slow you down! PS Toilets were unbelievably disgusting. I followed the dog and used a tree. Date of review: December 28, 2015
In short: Tough but well worth it :) In full: Great location, Parking was ok and marshalled. Bit of a queue for loos but plenty of trees ;) Started on time and well signposted. Really tough climbs with 1st hill the worst so it got a bit easier. Run through the icey stream tunnel was a nice touch to avoid road crossings. Didn't quite make the Sub 60min time for the coveted teeshirt but a great medal and great run.... See u next year for the Sub60 Tee !!! Now where's those practice Hills ..... In short: Poor organisation, lack of toilets and parking, no marshalls. In full: Lack of toilets resulted in long waits before breifing...parking very poor lack of space.....no marshalls what a shame this resulted in a large handleful of us becoming lost on the last mile we covered an extra mile thankfully found the finish (missed the 2nd tunnel swim) to which we were greeted by an unplesant attitude as to how we could have possibly got lost no one else has...... To which was then added we had this problem a few years back where we believe signs have been removed by horse riders not wanting the run to be taking place.... With this surely this would give the organisers the idea of marshalling the course.... The forest is a very large place we were lucky to have found our way back and finish.. .... Such a shame this could be a great event ... Date of review: January 1, 2014
In short: Terrible Marshalling In full: 3 toilets, so not ideal. Fun Race but poor signs and no marshals so a big group of us got lost! Mad hills, fun mud and freezing cold water. All in all good fun but organiser was grumpy and still no results up? Date of review: January 1, 2014
In short: Interesting and different In full: Enjoyed race and scenery but felt needed more Marshall's. Toilet facilities appalling, only three provided and two of those were blocked by 9:00 am. Not much of an atmosphere at the end, but route and scenery very nice and good fun. Date of review: December 30, 2013
In short: Hilly and muddy In full: This is a hard, no frills race put on by an enthusiastic team, so just turn up and enjoy! As long as you don't expect tea and cakes you will love it. Parking was fine as held over two days although given the location I can understand how previous years could have been a nightmare. Great off road course with plenty of hills that in parts slowed many of us to a walk and the descents were fast and slippery. The water tunnels were just a bit of fun. Unless you train on this sort of course you will be sore the next day! Date of review: December 30, 2013
In short: Hilly, muddy, wet. In full: similar to mud runner classic, not as well organised could do with more signs and tape on route. but at less than half the price this is a great value race.great route with some hard hills and fast descents, would definitely do this regularly if possible.good format with a nice medal for all and a t shirt incentive for those who can get under 60 minutes. In short: Tough but exciting race ! In full: Great race with some brutal hills , muddy tracks and babbling brooks ! Quality finishers medal and a good t-shirt if you go sub 60 minutes ! Date of review: December 30, 2013
In short: Beautiful scenery and interesting race but not many marshals In full: This was my first time doing the Seven Sins and I wasn't sure what to expect reading last year's reviews.
The organisation in terms of parking seemed good (at least when I got there at 9am) and the race had been split over 2 days as it was oversubscribed so there didn't seem to be a problem with numbers like last year.
The race started on time, with a race briefing 10 minutes before. The route was tough (lots of steep, muddy and slippery ascents and descents) but the water in the tunnels was only knee high, so not as bad as predicted following all the rain.
The scenery was stunning - especially as it was a sunny, if frosty, morning and made you forget the pain in your quads!
All finishers got a medal and sports drink, those finishing sub 60 mins (I think there were about 12 on the Sunday when I ran) also got a T shirt.
My only qualm is the lack of marshals on the course. I came across a man who had injured himself and it took over 20 minutes to get a marshal and then St John's ambulance to attend.
Overall a great race though, and I'll be back next year! Date of review: December 29, 2013
