In short: Organised, friendly, scenic, flattish! In full: My husband and I did this as sort of a "come-back" run from a variety of recent hurdles - one of which a 13 month old baby. Nice-Work were kind enough to let us run with the pram. We were cheered the whole way around, high-fived by locals and even given a bottle of wine when we finished. My baby got given his first ever medal as well, and it's hanging up in his room!
Overall, I don't think we could have found a nicer bunch of people to do a race with. Highly recommended - the roads were quiet, the scenery was beautiful. Thanks guys! Date of review: June 30, 2014
In short: Scenic, fast course, well organised and suitable for all runners In full: This race is growing in popularity and it is easy to see why. Terrific job by Nice Work. Oh did I mention PBs for my club mate and me Date of review: June 17, 2014
In short: Perfect conditions for perfect race In full: Did this race first on a hot day in 2012. Today the conditions were perfect for running. The nice breeze was a God send.
A few good changes since 2012:- Chip timing introduced with the easiest chip to put on the laces(no plastic strips!!). There are now 3 water stations at about 2Km, 5Km and 8Km. The organisers have taken note of mine and others suggestions from 2012 that nobody parked in the car park on the start/finish line can leave until all runners have finished.
The course including the long drag at 6.5Km remains! But otherwise a good flat course to get a good time.
Water, energy bars and medal at the end.
Will be back next year. Date of review: June 15, 2014
In short: Quick with great scenary In full: Well organised race on very quiet country lanes, staffed with plenty of marshals. It was an open road race, but was so well marshaled it could have been closed road.
Course was mostly through countryside and was on the whole flat. Only word of warning is not to park in the car park if you expect to be finished near the front as there is only one way out and that is reserved for the runners coming in. Date of review: June 17, 2013
In short: Relaxed family atmosphere In full: I did this race 4 or 5 years ago (before Nice Work had the management of it) and I think it has improved a lot.
No probs with registration, parking, race instructions etc. The start and finish is in a field where everyone is parked. This makes watching the race and getting away afterwards very straightforward.
Fast course through some very pleasant country lanes. Marshalling was good (thank you to the volunteers!) and there was a nice mix of abilities. Very welcoming to the slower / newer runners out there.
Chip timing might be an improvement and also maybe a clock with the gun time at the finish line. Although I'm quite happy with the gun time. It's a fairly low key, scenic, friendly run rather than one where time is too important (to most people anyway).
Refreshments at the end. Thanks to the organisers Date of review: June 16, 2013
