In short: This is the first time I have done this race and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere of the race was very friendly and fun. The course across the Forest was very enjoyable and very hilly. The hot soup and hot shower after the run were perfect.

In short: What goes up must come down
In full: Good race hq/facilities at Sandy Balls, loads of (warm) loos and parking etc but queue to pick up race number/chip did take a while - just needed more than one person checking IDs. Couldn't hear the pre race briefing (need a sound system) but followed everyone downhill to the start...only to find we had to run straight back up it again. This caused a bit of bottle necking and seemed unnecessary seeing as the total route measured 10.5k on my Garmin....next time let's just start at the top of the hill please!! Other than that, lovely route, massive thanks to the enthusiastic marshals who must have been freezing! Lovely medal at the end and soup/roll was a nice touch. Overall I think it was pretty tough - female winner in at 43 mins and hills added 10mins to my usual running time - but enjoyable race and I would definitely do it again next year,

In short: Nice scenery, course and marshalls. Let down by poor organisation.
In full: Very nice course that generally climbs for the first 5k, hence is generally downhill on the way back. No goody bag, nice medal, bottle of water, hot soup & a roll. What let it down was the organisation. Despite entering on line you have to queue up on the day with photo ID to collect your number, with the ID being checked by a single person - this is a local 10k not the London Marathon! There was confusion for the start as it was shown as being at 10am, but didn't take place until 1030, unfortunately a dozen or so runners were at the start for 10am as they had tagged onto the 'half' runners who were being led down - clear instructions would have been nice. Finally the distance on my GPS was 10.49k, normally on an accurate 10k course I'm just under 10k, maybe they should get it re-measured and drop the 500m long 50m steep climb at the start.

In short: Scenic and challenging
In full: Great scenery on one of the sunniest days of the year so far. Hills were good fun but not too bad. Liked the idea of the one aid station that you passed several times. The marshal with the pompous at the cattlegrid/fighting cocks was fantastic. Race brief was really good too.

In short: Fantastic weather on the day and inspiring scenery made for a great race, lots of encouragement from fellow runners on the way round. Loved it all even the hills!
