In short: Great intro race for trail running, but far too much like a road race - no variety underfoot. More a forest road race than a trail race. Ups and downs felt hard, especially with no idea how far to go. Mile or Km markers next time please.

In short: A doughnut never tasted so good.
In full: Not sure which were hardest - the uphills or the downhills ? Not very steep or long, just continuously doing one or the other, with very little flat bits. Slate coaster was different - better than a boring medal ! Serious runners - bring your GPS watch, as the only marker is for the last mile. Turn up at least one hour in advance, or you'll find parking difficult. Nice place for you to turn up early to.

In short: A refreshing change from road running and a pleasant introduction to trail races. Well organised and scenically superb.
In full: This was my first 'non-road race'. Run on well made forest tracks over undulating ground, I feel it was a good introduction to trail running. The organisers did well getting over three hundred runners to the start despite some car parking 'challenges' caused by recent wet weather inthe Lakes. None of the hills were over long or over steep although the absence of mile markers makes pacing something of a challenge for the novice/road runner. Thought the tea and doughnuts at the finish was a brilliant idea - other orgsanisers please take note:)

In short: Great race. Extremely demanding 10 miler on rolla-coaster route. Hardly any flat sections at all. No traffic. Great views. Only negative is car parking. Get there early to avoid problems.
