In short: Really enjoyable challenge In full: Last year this was my first HM so I was delighted to run it again, this time with my son, and knock 18 minutes off last year's time.
Efficient on line entry system, speedy number collection on the day and plenty of enthusiastic marshalls on the course.
Hills didn't seem so severe this year (must be getting used to them) but great to have the last one behind you and be able to cruise across the cliff top before putting on a bit of a spurt along the esplanade.
In short: lovely course if you like hill In full: Ive missed this race for a couple of years and forgot just how tough the hills are, having said that it is a fantastic course with stunning scenery. As always very well organised well done to all those involved and the brave marshalls out there on a chilly day. Date of review: June 11, 2013
In short: Fantastic views from the top of the hills....but challenging to get to the top of them In full: First off road half and I certainly plan to come back. Great marshals and frequent water stops. Some nettly bits, stiles and some ankle turning potential. Must focus on my hill work for next time! Date of review: June 10, 2013
In short: Great course, well attended, good atmosphere! In full: Great atmosphere, a 500 strong field, and a really scenic course make this a great event. The biggest climbs are all in the first third of the course which helps with pacing. The long downhill into Alfriston (about half way) and the subsequent flat section along the river both allow you to pick your pace up. PB for me so I'll definitely be making this one a regular from now on!! Thanks NPS Lions! Date of review: June 10, 2013
In short: Tough race not PB materal - more of a scenic challenge In full: Tough climbs in the first 4 miles. Plenty of water stations. Well organised and marshalled. Excellent value for money. Date of review: June 9, 2013
In short: Very scenic, hard course but most enjoyable In full: This is an excellent race, very friendly but well organised. The course is certainly a hard one, with two (or arguably three) big climbs and some steep descents, so any PBs here will only be for this course. Very good marshalling, excellent facilities (the seafront makes a great start and finish location) and great scenery make this a favourite for me every year. As others have said, the entry fee is really excellent value when compared with many other events. Date of review: June 4, 2012
In short: The hills are challenging but when race complete there is a real sense of achievement!! In full: Excellent value and good pre race info. Easy to register and started bang on 9am! Route was really good, super challenging with a mix of terrains and a few gates to get over and round!! Helpful and supportive marshalls, loads of water stations and friendly fellow runners. So much so, I got a helpful pull up from the long grass when I fell - thank you for that!! Good medal and refreshments at the end, especially the squash!! Not sure what happened to the prize giving, got too cold to stick around. Date of review: June 3, 2012
