In short: Was so good I decided to register for 2011
In full: This was not just my first marathon but my first ever running event. My friend persuaded me to take part so I spent 3 months training hard for the daunting distance of 26.2 miles.
The event itself was extremely well organised. Plenty of marshalls, facilities, water stops not to mention cracking support from the people of Nottingham.
The first half of the marathon involved a few steady inclines (not exactly hills) and I made the mistake of tackling this stage too fast. The second half was completely flat but by 19 miles I was so drained and managed to drag myself across the finish in a respectable debut time of 3:55.
I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to try out a marathon but can't afford/get into London. The support was fantastic and the other runners all help you along the way.
If I had a slight criticism then I would say a lot of the second half of the course is in the countryside and thus short of support. These stages are the times when you could do with some much needed encouragement from the crowd but like I said it is only a minor criticism!
Overall a great event.

In short: Really enjoyed the Robin Hood Marathon this year - enjoyed it more than the London Marathon
In full: I've done the half marathon 4 times but wanted to try the full and I really enjoyed it. I appreciated it not been crowded the second half - that was just enough support to keep me going. I would definately do it again. Great atmosphere and I got a PB!

In short: Back Again - Over 10 mins up on last year!
In full: Well organized as usual. More 'pissoirs' this year meaning not necessary for hoards to wee in the memorial park!
Kept it at 8 min mile pace - just pipping the 1:45 pace-maker! - 10 minute improvement on last year.

In short: The second half is getting better (just)
In full: This was the third time I have run the marathon in Nottingham.
I do think that the second half has improved since I ran it in 2009. There were more people supporting and the lake section has been shortend. This required the lumpy off road section to be longer (which is tough on already tired and sore feet)and the narrow width of the roped section casued tail backs.
There are sections of the first half which feel over crowded and made even pacing difficult.
The colour coded pens made a positive difference.
The goodie bag does not reflect the cost of entry and does not compare well with other races.
I understand that the finish had to fit around the work that was going on but the metal hump was less than friendly after 26 miles.
And finally my Garmin measured the course at 26.4 miles others seemed to agree.....

In short: Excellent as ever, winds made it harder than previous years
In full: This event continues to go from strength to strength. There are very few big marathon events in Britain and for anyone who would prefer to avoid the hassle of London but still wants road closures and a good atmosphere, this ticks the box. Excellently organised and backed by Sweetshop, New Balance and Lucozade so runners are well provided for even in this age of austerity.

In short: very well organised but where harder than expected ?
In full: a good race , perfectly organised.
was suprised at the amount of inclines but nothing killer, just caught me off guard. I got my PB of 1.23 but i wouldnt consider it a pb course due to the hills.
goody bag is poor considering the cost but the medal and orgainistion is excellent.
where crowds gathered ie castle, wollaton and embankment the suport was outstanding
Would defn do this race again

In short: Thanks for the memories
In full: The Robin Hood was my first 'half' back in 2006, so it has sentimental value. Last year I 'graduated' to the marathon and did it again this year. I live in Durham and I'm not sure if I'll be back next year. So a big thank you to you fine folks of Nottingham for the last 6 years. You guys are the best. Thanks for your great support.

In short: Lots of runners, but well organised in the city centre
In full: Organisation seemed better than ever this year, with the idea of pens starting to work (could still be improved yet though. Not a cheap race, but about teh going rate for a city race with road closures etc. Goody bag not yet great, but at least is trying. Plenty of water and sports drinks. Good balance for serious runners and those raising money for charity as both a half and full.

In short: Great race - pity about the wind
In full: First half is really well supported - nice undulating route that has definite PB potential. Second half or the marathon is very flat, somewhat boring and not that many supporters but without the wind could still make for very good times. Says it all though that this years winning time was only 2:38 when the half was 1:05

In short: First and only Marathon, but glad I chose this one.
In full: Yes it was windy and not being a marathon runner and finding the last 5 miles very painful, the crowd and marshals made this event a fantastic experience. As someone who only ever wanted to do a marathon once to tick the box I am glad I chose this one. The people of Nottingham really did the city proud. My impression of Nottingham has definitely changed. Thanks for all the above the call of duty support.
