In short: Excellent value with a lot of the major needs sorted.
In full: Nice atmosphere with support all the way apart from the remote out of town areas. Start is a bit tightly packed and difficult to estimate a good starting position. Race about the right size with a large event presence without the problems or price hike. Water stations frequent and in the right places. Couple of rises and a hill late in the race but nothing too serious. A hot day and despite warnings I dived for the lady with the hose and was glad I did. Traffic wasn't a problem when I was running, the right roads were either closed, partially closed, restricted or an area partially coned according to their size. Heard a few shouts from police to both cars and runners so could have been problems further back.

In short: Great organisation, lovely crowds - good for a first half
In full: Very well organised race, with great marshalling, fairly flat and plenty of water stations. Only negative was a tightly packed start with cars parked up in the way. Fortunately although the sun came out, it wasn't as hot as I'd expected - thank goodness for British Summers.

In short: Sun burnt, unfit, but finished
In full: I'd recommend this race. It is a good flat course and well organised. Think about how to protect yourself from the sun.

In short: Always a challenging course on a hot Sunday in August. Loads of drinks stations, excellent support from marshalls and the public. The finish in the market square is amazing. The start was a bit congested but otherwise fine.

In short: hot, hillier than I thought - but a lovely atmosphere
In full: Slow start as it was so narrow which should be changed. First bit rather boring going through housing estates with parked cars and plenty of would-be traffic who may as well have switched their engines off! But nice to get off the main road and into peaceful countryside. What made it for me was arriving early and wondering around the market place in the sunshine. Got a few bargains from one of the stalls while my friend had a pre-run massage. Think the council should let us park for free - then I'd have had a massage too! Not my best time but it was hot - being August! And I think all the water stations slowed me down but they were great to see.

In short: Great Half marathon - just needs tweaking!
In full: Got my PB on this course last year, so was looking forward to it - unfortunately the heat made me realise that another PB was not on the cards this year!
Loads of Water Stations, water was cold - did a 1/2 recently that only had 4, on the hottest day of the year! - and I thought the volunteers at Newark were very encouraging.

The start however is possibly the worst start to a race that I've experienced - too many parked cars, narrow street, and people being at the front who were slowing down 'faster' runners was a bit annoying.

Also, do the people who were in the cars on the housing estate not know that theres an event taking place? Do they not get any prior notice?. They need a little bit of patience.......

However, for the price to enter, don't think its worth getting too wound up about!

Oh yeah - possibly best 1/2 tee shirts I've had are from Newark!

In short: Hot! Well organised race with a fast, mainly flat route.
In full: I drove from Leeds to run this race and I would do so again. I thought the race was well organised, good route, easy parking (although paying on a Sunday - blimey!) loved Newark itself. Plentiful water stations but possibly better to have fewer stations but with bottled water for future, people can carry then.
Only negatives were the narrow start, if this can't be avoided how about pens or time markers as the usual slower runners did make it difficult to get a decent start? Water, as above and maybe a banana at the end?
Well done, a good experience.
