In short: The first 2 miles are poor...but the other 11.1 are fantastic
In full: This is a cracking run. Really well organised, good parking, chip timing, brilliant marshalling, pretty much "the works".
That said, the first couple of miles let this event down a bit in my opinion. several hundred runners crammed on a pavement next to a busy A-road. Pavement just wide enough for 2 shoulder to shoulder, over a busy roundabout and then up a hill where the pavement narrowed even further. Caused a real bottleneck as the field hadn't had chance to thin properly (both half and quarter marathoners at the same time), and was forced to stop , walk, stop, run several times.
From 2 miles on though, you're off down country lanes and into the sticks. This is where Congelton comes into it's own....although you would have to take my word for that, because due to the fog (which made perfect running conditions!) you couldn't see much further than the hedgeline for most of it.
For those that have done Macclesfield, this is a far flatter course, apart from "the sting in the tail" at 12miles.
getting your goody bag at the school at the end was really good, as all the t-shirts were boxed and they handed them out in the correct size....Macclesfield take note!!!!!
I'll be back next year.

In short: Great event and well worth doing
In full: Really enjoyable race. A few challenging hills on an undulating course, but still PB potential. Goody bag and T-shirt are great, but the organisation and marshalls really make it worthwhile. It's not all traffic free, but it doesn't need to be. Weather was great too. All in all, well worth doing and I'll be there again next year.

In short: Really enjoyable, friendly and well organised
In full: Great race and a great course. One or two challenging climbs, but not as many as I remembered from my last visit. Lovely weather today helped - misty start with the sun coming through later - and the marshalls throughout were fantastic with clear instructions and lots of encouragement.

Not quite a pb for me today, but well in front of my target time, and I really enjoyed the race.

Thanks to Congleton Harriers and all the organisers.

In short: Great race, well run, with good running
In full: Good organisation; chip timed, well marshaled. Nice atmosphere, great T-shirt - subtle, technical and uncluttered. Couldn't ask for more. Nice to see the Black Swan offering an extra drinks station, sadly only squash ;-) Got a pb which helps!
