In short: Friendly atmosphere in a lovely market town setting. Highly recommended. In full: Very enjoyable race in a lovely market town setting. Lovely views across the westwood if you've got time to take them in! My only gripe is the congested start, too many slow runners positioning themselves at the front causing a bottle neck in a narrow road. I can understand why the start is there due to it being next to the historic Minster. Didn't detract too much from a fantastic race, and another PB for me! Date of review: May 26, 2006

In short: Really enjoyed my first ever road race! In full: It was my first race so i've got nothing to compare it to but I really enjoyed it. The course is very picturesque in places and the support from the crowds was fantastic. Only downside is the narrow streets at the start and finish but there isn't much that can be done about that. In short: not bad, not brilliant In full: First time i've done this race, travelled from Darlington, a trek of nearly 2hrs each way to get there, but thats not the fault of the race, good facilities @ the leisure centre & good directions from roads into Beverley for leisure centre, good crows @ finish in town centre, only one small fault with race in that the start was very crowded in a narrow street, a guy was even trying to push a push chair along the side of the pavement @ the start. Probably a good idea if they shut the pavement to pedestrians. Overall i was a little dissapointed with my personal result nearly a minute of my pb, but having done the london marathon 3 weeks ago & giving blood 11 days before maybe a fantastixc result was never gonna happen. Worth a try if you live local. Date of review: May 16, 2006

In short: Good for athletes, daunting and demoralising for beginners In full: As a beginner, larger races are much better in that you can blend into the crowd. Getting back into running after a period of injury, I was annoyed to find a police van hot on my heels and urging me to speed up! I only ran 3 minutes slower than my pb - in other 10km's I have run this has been the average pace, here in Beverley I felt like a failure, completely demoralised and not sure that I want to race again....
