In short: intro to racing
In full: This was my first ever race. Very cold but bright sunny day and the starter was right when he said they don't "do" rain.
I guessed from the number of competitors and previous comments this would feel very clubby and it was. We weren't made to feel unwelcome, but we obviously stood out as newbie non-club members and I felt the host club members could have made the effort to speak to us. Aside from that, very well organised and the marshalls were great, cheering us along the way. The course wasn't as twisty as I was anticipating and running in a straight line is boring so the turns were welcome. Lovely and flat too.
This was a good/local/cheap introduction to racing for me and I look forward to more races and Perivale 2013.

In short: An old friend
In full: An old friend which heralds the start of the Christmas season every year. The weather varies -this year very sunny- but the event stays the same. It really is very flat but quite twisty. The track finish provides a final flourish. Don't change a thing.

In full: Well done and thank you to the Perivale 5 team, who always seem able to ensure perfect weather conditions for this PB route! I'll be back next year.

In short: Perivale 5 - Sunny Spells Predicted
In full: First time I've run this race. very well organised and marshalled excellently so thankyou for that. although a lot of the course is on pavement, because there was a lot of club runners there was a lot of sensible running whereby the slower runners all moved over to one side enabling the faster ones to overtake without jostling or barging for position. The course was so flat and fast and running with club runners of a higher ability meant I smashed 6 minutes off my best training run time.

Only thing I would say is that if you were a complete novice to running the Clubby feel to this may put beginners off. I hope not but maybe the organisers should contemplate making this race a Perivale Santa Slog/Dash with a prize for the best dressed santa/elf or reindeer. you can still run fast in a santa suit but it would put beginners at ease to see a mix of serious and fun runners and add to the atmosphere.

well done though and the weather was beautiful

In short: Well organised race and fast course
In full: The mild weather made this one a really pleasant Sunday for December. Vest and shorts were out in force! Well organised and well marshalled, the quick 2-lapper had a nice track finish too. Bargain entry and small field negated the need for chip timing. Will definitely do again.

In short: Marshalls were fantastic and encouraging, Really enjoyed the run. Not the most scenic but good fun and really nice to finish in a stadium.
In full: Overall I enjoyed it. Felt a little clubby for a fun runner but a nice sunday run

In short: Functional
In full: This race is part of our club champ.s and I probably wouldn't do it if it were not. It is flat but quite twisty with much stepping on-and-off-pavements. There is a basic feel to the arrangements - a whistle started us off, without even a "ready" let alone any "set", and it must be one of the last road races still to be without chip timing. On the plus-side: water and a banana is plenty after a five miler. Oh, and the weather was positively mild this year!
