In short: a race of 2 halves...
In full: first 5k was a pleasant undulating canter which gave G3 virgins like me the (very misguided) impression this would be quite a gentle run. Soon after halfway we hit a long, steep hill that reduced almost everyone (even people finishing in the top20)to a walk! a few kms later just as the burn in your legs is easing you get a short steep climb in the forest, and finally the final km is a long slow trudge back uphill to the car park areas. Overall - its a highly enjoyable, challenging and well-organised race. The hills are hard but 'fair' - this wasn't sadistic evil stuff like the Saab X-Trail!

In short: Perfect again - already looking forward next winter
In full: Another great G3. Would say that in order of toughness it went Feb, Mar, Jan this year, but then I did completely mess up my pacing in Feb so that may explain it. See you in 2009

In short: YES to practically everything - including the hills!
In full: A great series of races. There's something about being tortured in glorious countryside that is very enjoyable. Or is it just me?

In short: Great race to close the 2008 G3 series
In full: Thanks to Toby, Rory and the AAT crew for a great 2008 series and a great finish yesterday. On paper, this looks the hardest of the three races but actually felt a lot easier than February as there is more downhill and flat sections. Still great to have two good climbs on St Martha's and the last hill with 1k to go. A nice sting in the tail.

By a long way, these are my favourite XC races of the winter. There is also a nice level of camaraderie among the regulars developing. This always leads to some fun banter/encouragement on the way round.

Might see you all again at the orientator events and possible the XTT is I have recovered from a HIM the week before.
