In short: Muddy, wet, hilly and icy but awesome fun. A top race.
In full: The first time I've run this race but will definately be heading back.

An awesome race that had some really tough hills, stodgy mud, thigh deep water with bits of ice floating in that sent your feet numb.

A good atmosphere with a few people banging out a rythm on drums in places.

After my legs were about to give up it was great to see a nice flat field only to find it was very boggy with knee deep muddy water.

Lovely warm showers at the end and a nice quick presentation afterwards.

In short: Very Tough Multiterrain Race for real runners
In full: My second time here, tougher than 2007 due to the icy conditions and more rain. This race is everything that "big city" event junkies races aren't, this is a real runners race, when you are going up the fields in the last mile to the finish you are hurting.

In short: Challenging, but well worth the pain!
In full: This race is only for the hardy! The course takes you through knee deep waterlogged lanes (watch your shins on the pieces of ice - ouch), along leafy trails, through endless miles of mud (hold onto your shoes!), through a river, and across green fields, to the finish where you are given a Christmas Pudding and clotted cream for all your hard work. Plenty of dressing up and festive cheer all add to the fun. My favourite race of the year.
