In short: A pleasant run but organisationon race day left a lot to be desired
In full: Said it was a 5 miler and although they said the course had been slightly altered due to the snow, it was still 5 miles. At the end my garmin said 4.51 and friends said 4.61! Judging by the 'quick' time for me I would suggest the course was wrong.
The organisation to the race was excellent however race day could have been better - marchalls didnt seem to know where the start was and I heard the winner was mis directed on the start of the second lap. Toilet facilities and hot drinks nearer the start/finish would have been appreciated. Course itself was fine, a mix of roads and grass with a few icy bits in places. So all in all I give it a
B-,could do better.

In short: Great excuse to get out in the cold and snow
In full: Was here last year and the marshalling was a big improvement on 2011 - well done. Shame the course could not be the full 5 miles due to conditions but a good morning out, Reading campus is nice to run around and no pressure at all if you are a first timer

In short: Great pre-half marathon training run
In full: Did this in 2011 and just finished the 2012 edition. Whilst the snow/ice meant the course had to be slightly shortened, it was low key, but a good field, pretty course and the multi terrain offered a great workout and challenge. For anyone doing the wokingham half next week, this was/is perfect training and taper. Wasnt really very clubby, but if you consider its run by a non-profit that does a load of great work for charities, you cant complain. Every type of size/shape of runner was out today and it offered a great low key non-pressure run and actually quite a warm atmosphere. Would be great for beginners. I'll try and build this into my program every year as its a quite training session and a chance to run the rare 5 mile distance.

In short: A good low key themed event
In full: An excellent 5 mile event - low key but I think that will change in future years. Nice course set inside the University grounds with loads of car parking nearby & helpful marshals along the way. Nice bar to enjoy a post race drink. Well done.

In short: A well run event with enjoyable multi-terrain, ideal for a first attempt and would definitely consider doing it again next year.

In short: Very pleasant run round Reading Uni
In full: Small field 52 but grown from previous year, hope it continues. Quite a fiddly route so could have done with a few more marshalls and a couple did not really know what they were doing. Also a signpost or two to the start car park would have been good!!
However there was a very cheery atmosphere, most marshalls were supportive, the organisation niggles minor and I really enjoyed it. Look forward to next year!

In short: Friendly, fun race, could do with a bit better course organistaion
In full: Race has a relaxed, laid back feel, appropriate for an Irish themed race :) Course was nice to run, but wasn't the easiest to follow, as needed a few more marshals (or prominent arrows). This was apparent on lap two, when the course seemed to change slightly due to one marshal changing location. Still, a fun race to do, glad I heard about it at the last minute.

In short: Was ok, not a big field though
In full: Race was fine. Not many runners though (50-70ish?), so field got a bit strung out...which was a slight problem due to there probably being 2 or 3 marshals less than what was required. A few people took wrong turns here and there. Was a decent alternative to a solo training run though. Hopefully they give it a better try next year, expand the field (course could have taken several hundred runners) and improve the org. Considering it was charity based, cant really complain too much.

In short: Lots to learn, good basis to work from.
In full: Well, rocked in with 6th place, so pretty happy with my performance, but a lot to be learnt.

Pros
>Quiet course
>Lots of parking available on campus
>Reasonable price for a 5 mile race
>I love a medal and a little goody bag

Cons
> Bad Marshalling, i.e.
- Marshall stood on corner, didn't indicate direction to go until I was on the corner
- Corners unmarshalled
- Tiny bits of bunting used as markers, not easy to see 200m off

> Almost no signposting of car park, and almost no signposting for toilets, drinks

> Race start was a flag, with no clear line

May be back, shall see.
