In short: 2012 review In full: My second run around Stafford, pacing a friend to her pb. An undulating course with a couple of cheeky hills. Great organisation, loved the medal and T shirt. fabulous reception at the end. See you in 2013. Date of review: March 26, 2012
In short: Great once you get out of the housing estate! In full: Lovely place to visit and a great race. Start was fine, fairly congested but whats new? Once out of the town, and the housing estate, was really nice nosey points. A good mix of uphill, down hill and flat parts. Only gripe is the finish. It was my first time here so didn't know the course. The end route is very sketchy and if you where in a world of your own (deep concentration trying to finish), you could of easily gone the wrong way. Congestion in the Market square at the end was also not too great. But. Saying that. I will be back to try and beat this years time! Date of review: March 23, 2011
In short: Great atmos, well organised - a great start to racing, perfect 1st half In full: Very impressed with Stafford half, very well organised, nice tech t shirt @ finish, good pre- race info, efficient on the day with a great atmos. The course was a good mix , undulating is a fair description ( was fearing killer hills) the 1st mile is a bit congested but for me added to the atmosphere. Only minor gripe would be nice to have had a sports drink @ finish - or maybe that was cos I was dead tired!! Date of review: March 23, 2011
In short: 2011 20/3/11 In full: Great atmosphere at the start/finish. The race seems to be getting bigger year on year which means that the start is now pretty congested for the first mile. Good supply of perfectly sized bottled water at regularly spaced stations. I think they were 250/300mls. I've never seen them at any other race and can't think why not. Again because of the size of the race, the finishers area was a bit chaotic. The technical t shirt would have been fabulous, if they'd have had any left in small and I couldn't find the medals! It is by and large a varied course, although I'd forgotten that long boring mile between 9 and 10 probably because it is so boring! Good move with the new start time. Looking forward to 2012. In short: Really enjoyable race that helped me smash my PB! In full: My first time at this race and I'll definitely be back next year. Very well organised, good marshalling throughout and some lovely countryside when you're out of Stafford town centre. As someone used to running up a lot of hills, I thought the undulations were pretty gentle and the race relief definitely helped me get my PB. Nice goody bag too. Date of review: April 3, 2010
In short: Nice once you get out of the Town In full: So many nice sights in Stafford, but you don't run through them at the beginning when you are more alert. The third mile is a nice climb up Radford Bank and from there its downhill into Milford and the second water station.
Tixall is very pretty and this year the traffic was stopped from coming from behind.
Great improvement over the 2006 run I did, but the end is still chaotic - no one knows how to get out of the loop the organisers create in the market square. Shame as it took me 10 minutes to get to my family.
Big up for photographer Brian Dale who got photos to a group of us running in memory of a very close friend. goto http://www.runningphotos.org.uk Date of review: March 25, 2010
