In short: Nice location and beautiful yet challeanging run In full: Now I understand why Tri's are so darn expensive, with weather on Sunday I would have not got out of bed if I had paid a tenner for it! It was about 15c and constant drizzle. It seems well organized, with all transitions within easy reach of the pool and out for the run. Pool was divided in 8 lanes, going up the same lane twice then ducking under to get to the next. Some cheeky sods where doing tumble turns at the other end of the pool where they could not be seen although it didnt effect me. Out of the pool and T1 was right outside the double doors to the car park. Out to the main road to a long stretch downhill, right to the roundabout (which unfortunately saw 4 accidents also made worse by they weather conditions) then all around till the straight home stretch again. Bike route was up and down due to small inclines but at times the road surface was so uneven and on a slope from right to the left that going downhill was not gaining any speed! Going back to T2, Cross Country Trainers on, and off we went on the last leg. This time we ventured out to the right of the car park, gentle uphill incline, then just before the first house we were directed on a footpath through the woods. The scenery was lovely and the smell of wet woodland even better, but this time the up and downs were not gentle anymore and quite steep! There was quite a bit of sand and mud so as time it felt like skying and had to tip toe like a ballerina, however it made it more fun and being 'forced' to take it easy made if for a quicker recovery from the bike and settled within about a mile. Also the distances on my and other Triathletes in my Club - Garmin came up at 13m whilst the run was 2.80m so not entirely the 20k and 5K as expected, not a problem though. All in all, as usual am very happy to have done this event as I thoroughly enjoyed even though my cycling and running shoes are still wet after 2 days, it was great fun and look forward to doing it again next year, hopefully with better weather.
