In short: Back again In full: I ran and reviewed this back in 2010. Said I'd be back! The course has changed since then. It was one big loop. It's now one small loop of the gallops to thin you out, followed by 2 larger loops. So you'll pass family/supporters 3 times. The large loop has plenty of hay bale jumps, 2 stream crossing and a 6ft muddy drop into a ditch, over the knees with water, where you have to exit 10ft further along. Oh yeah.. it's a surprisingly undulating course. Best thing is - because it loops you get to do it all twice! As before, a good quality T to remember it by. Guess what.... I'll be back! In short: Damp but fun! In full: Excellently organised race, no complaints about anything, even the dip into a "stream" - actually knee high muddy water :) Date of review: April 1, 2012

In short: A bit different and fun, with wet feet! In full: I did it as part of our club's GP and I wasn't expecting a PB because of the obstacles. It was a fun race and we all enjoyed it, but I think it was a bit short of the advertised 6 miles, 2 furlongs...
I emailed the organiser to get the results in a PDF and the link to photos, so would suggest you do the same if you want them. No mention of the team prizes though and I think we won both of them :0) Date of review: April 4, 2011

In short: Variety is the spice of life! In full: A great little event, with the emphasis on FUN. Get your old shoes (& socks)on for this one as they WILL get wet & mucky. One deepish stream, another with an 'alternative' log crossing & one you can jump, plus 3 varying heights of bale jumps...nothing that even a first timer can't cope with, so don't let it put you off. Excellent photo opportunities for the paparazzi & great fun for spectators & marshalls alike. You even get a 'bell' to let you know when you're onto your last lap. Dry ground in 2011, so runnable in ordinary trainers, but on a wet year & bearing the obstacles in mind, probably wise to run in off-roaders. I loved this event & will definately run it again. In short: Brilliant, a great 2 lap course featuring straw bale jumps and 3 water crossings, great atmosphere In full: This was my first event for several years, turned out to be well worth the wait and a good way to get back into running. A very different race - 2 laps of a course which was undulating and had a number of obstacles. really well organised, great marshalls. Date of review: March 30, 2011

In short: A little different from your average run, but good fun ! In full: Wasn't sure what to expect when i turned up for this race, previous reviews mentioned losing shoes in mud and getting very wet. A little worried about the hurdles also. The water features were basically small river/stream crossings (3), the first being up to the knee, so if you're trying this in the future expect to have soggy shoes and socks! The hurdles (3, i think) start one hay bail high, which is fairly small, but gradually get larger; 2 bails, then 3 bails (a step up and drop). It was a 2 lap race (so 6 water crossings and 7 jumps in total - the finish line is further up the track from the start). Great fun, something a little different from your average race, nice T-shirt for the finishers. Would race again, though may try cross-country footwear next time! Date of review: March 30, 2011
