In short: Definitely not flat !!! In full: A very nice run through undulating countryside, hills at beginning, middle-ish and end - and the end hill is positively huge for Suffolk ;)Great marshalling and soup at the end was a nice touch. Was strange that the course was marked in kilometres rather than miles. Date of review: November 4, 2013
In short: Enjoyable Run, well organised with fantastic marshalls In full: This was my 4th Half-Marathon, the organisation of the event was fantastic, I was able to collect my race pack quickly and all the staff were really friendly.
The start of the run was great and I was over the starting line within 10 seconds of the starting pistol.
Although advertised as a relatively flat race I thought there were a lot of hills.
The scenery was quite nice which is what made me enter.
I was a bit confused as to why there were no sign posts marking Mile points but instead Kilometer signs.
The marshalls along route were fantastic and really cheered everyone on.
Nice goody bag at the end and a can of beer, also a decent finishers medal.
Over all a well organised event and a big thankyou to everyone involved. Date of review: November 3, 2013
In short: Top notch organisation. Definitely Gold Standard In full: Top notch organisation. Marshals friendly and gave encouragement. Efficient feed stations. A great atmosphere over all. Date of review: April 24, 2013
In short: Excellent organisation. All the hills are in the first 6 miles then flat(ish). A warm but windy day this year which slowed me down. Excellent marshalls throughout. Maybe the marathon again next year. Date of review: April 22, 2013
In short: Very impressive Half Marathon In full: Very well organised event, raising money for the NSPCC in the process. This was the first time I've entered Bungay Half Marathon, having previously run in their Great East Run 20K. Yesterday's marathon / half marathon were very well organised from start to finish. Great route, although challenging, five hills, I believe I counted on the way out on the main road. Coming back the route follows quieter roads and villages. The last two miles are on a footpath / cycle path. Excellent atmosphere at the end of the race, medal and goody bag as promised. Well done to all those involved in organising a very good race. In short: Well done to all at Bungay Black Dog - great organisation, super course In full: This is a very challenging course. Some steep climbs in the first 6 miles but after that some godd flat stretches. The organisation and everything about it I can only praise. My second half marathon at Bungay and managed to knock 6 mins of my previous time here. I shall return. Date of review: May 5, 2012
In short: Very friendly race, fully-booked before day. Great marshalls but not so great undulations! In full: Done this race several times and each time seem to have forgotten the nature of the course: quite a few significant undulations for first 7 miles (seems more ups than downs!). Good support in clusters round the course. My time gets slower each year but I hope to be back. Date of review: April 18, 2012
In short: Great local race with some proper hills! In full: It's only six miles down the road for me so I really enjoy Bungay half and have done it twice now and will be back in 2013. From one year to the next I forget how steep the hills are in the first half! It's a joy when it flattens out at halfway, but the climbs do give way to some gorgeous scenary. Pockets of really good local support, especially past the pubs! Half marathon sold out this year so it's getting more and more popular, well done Bungay Black Dog Running Club. In short: Brilliant race yet again, great organisation In full: My local race from where i grew up. Always a pleasure to go back run it again. Organisation is top notch and the course is very scenic through the suffolk/Norfolk countryside. Undulating 1st half so keep it steady for a strong finish in the 2nd half! In short: Did not need to be any warmer with the late start of 12.30 In full: Excellent organisation. Friendly & very efficient marshals. Would prefer water bottles instead of cups. Good facilities on site with excellent commentary. The ½ marathon warm up was brilliant. Date of review: April 13, 2011
