In short: What a BEAST of a hill to run up at the start! In full: Not terribly long (1k approx.) but just SO steep! Then a 7k-ish gently undulating loop, with a few "slopes" in each direction, before a fast downhill finish nearly 2k in length. Course was clear but marshals a bit subdued! Nice run in to the finish funnel, and welcoming more marshals at the end. Nice little canvas goody bag to go with the medal. Very pleasant morning's run. Date of review: September 15, 2014
In short: A lovely course and plenty of encouraging marshals makes for an excellent race. In full: It's a fairly small race but a lovely course and we had good weather. The start is steep up hill so gets off to a really tough start, but you do come back down it at the end, so not all bad. The rest of the route is quite flat mainly on quiet roads. There were plenty of encouraging marshals and a nice little goodie bag at the end! Date of review: September 15, 2014
In short: Very enjoyable, as always In full: Do this every year and always enjoy it, despite the monster hill at the start. Small, low key, friendly and fun. Very hot this year though! Date of review: September 10, 2012
In short: Lovely morning out for the whole family In full: My 6th running of this event (why are previous year's reviews on runners world elsewhere?) and really enjoyed the whole morning as always. As did my family. Such a lovely, friendly event. Will be back again next year.
Only drawbacks were that kids missed not having a bouncy castle this year, and I could have done with a second water station due to the warm weather. Date of review: September 12, 2011
In short: Good, small race (but enter in advance) In full: This is a good small-town race. Well organised, cheery marshalls and a nice country-roads course with a tough start. This is my local race (0.5M from home) and would do again provided I remember to register in advance. Was staggered to have to go home for more money after turning up with a speculative £15 for on-the-day entry. Date of review: September 11, 2011
In short: Challenging hill, great race, fabulous choc brownie in goody bag :-) In full: First 1km straight up a killer hill but great run after that, last 1km run down the same killer hill which is pretty tough on the legs. Fantastic marshelling & great goody bag with local produce & home made choc brownie... just what you need after a race Date of review: September 11, 2011
