In short: Good fun with some challenging inclines. In full: This trail run is all about enjoying yourself - the styles, kissing gates and road crossings combined with some killer hills put pay to any PB ambitions - but it was really enjoyable. Terrific. Date of review: May 6, 2012

In short: Lost and DNF! In full: My own fault really, I had nobody in front of me and I missed a turn over a pedestrian bridge which may or may not have had signs who knows, ended up a long way from the correct route. It is a trail marathon and I should have taken a map, sorry to the 2 runners who followed me. At mile 12 on my own route knee gave up and a kindly marshal drove me the last mile. My first DNF.
Tougher than I thought it would be. Date of review: May 6, 2012

In short: Tough half marathon but in pleasant surroundings. Found last 3 mlies hard going after a never-ending climb at about mile 10. Took wrong turning twice as not fully marshalled event. Great flapjacks at the end. Date of review: May 6, 2012

In short: Tough all terrain half marathon, really friendly and nice atmosphere In full: I really enjoyed this, it was a challenging course with lots of long gradual (and not so gradual) hills but a great atmosphere and lots of support from fellow runners. This is another example of why smaller events are usually so much more rewarding than bigger, more polished races.
That said, I do have a couple of complaints. First is that although we were warned that the course wasn't fully marshalled there were some points of the course where the lack of both marshalls and signs made progress pretty dodgy - I started trotting off in completely the wrong the direction at one point and was saved by a fellow runner calling me back. The second is that it would have been useful if the marshals, although very positive and friendly, also had an idea of where they were on the race course. There were no mile markers so a bit guidance from the marshals would have been a help. Unfortunately they eiether offered no assistance or inaccurate info. It was a bit annoying, considering it was such a tough challenge. Date of review: May 6, 2012

In short: Well organised beautiful scenery In full: For the first running of this event it was extremely well run, didn't need the map at all as it was well sign posted and marshalled, the route is very sceneic but is over rolling country so prob not PB material. Date of review: May 3, 2011

In short: Excellent event and well organised by friendly staff In full: Would recommend this event. A mug at the finish and some lovely cake was a nice touch.
Water stations were spaced nicely - well considered.
Route was generally very easy to follow, one slight exception being around 10-11 miles
Nice atmoshere for a small event Date of review: May 3, 2011

In short: Great easy to get to event. In full: I thoroughly enjoyed myself despite the tough up and down, overwhelmingly rural course. Despite starting off from a farm there weren't any Manc smells, and the few spectators out were really encouraging. Much was made beforehand about straying off route, but the trail was easy to follow - just look out for the person in front, but it was well marked as well. The weather, very hot on the day - a relief considering some of the rutted and knobbly tractor lanes close to the end. Good staggering of relief stations, and tasty flapjacks at the finish. Great mug handed out to all, better than the medals I seem to be buiding up. Useful and a great memento. Date of review: May 2, 2011

In short: A very nice event considering t was the first running of the event In full: Excellent organisation. Just what you would expect from NHRR. Nice course, challenging in places, nice scenery, energy bars and jelly babies at two of the water stations, and a mug. Less than 200 runners I'm guessing so let's hope that it attracts more when/if it gets run next year. Date of review: May 1, 2011

In short: Great refreshments, friendly marshalls and very welcoming. In full: Was worried about getting lost on the course as it's self guided but thankfully there was always someone in front that I could see. Amazing cake at the end and energy bars along the route. I thoroughly enjoyed the race. Date of review: May 1, 2011
