In short: Ideal for first event In full: A very low key event, well marshalled, nice course with a challenging hill. As previous feedback, loos and parking will be an issue if the event gets bigger. Date of review: May 4, 2015
In short: A great local event. In full: I arrived at the event and was surprised at the turnout. No doubt encouraged by the good weather and this scenic village lots of runners of all abilities arrived to a seamless check in. I had a short wait to collect my race number and waited for the one toilet before the start. Attentive marshals at each point through stunning countryside made for a memorable race. This could become very popular. Organisers take note! Parking and toilets please :-) Date of review: May 4, 2015
In short: Superb event In full: A splendid event, well organised by friendly people, with wonderful scenery. The view during the second half of the race is dramatic indeed. The long, very steep hill (after about 3 km) is daunting. I would respectfully suggest that anybody who is old (like me), slow (like me) or a beginner should reserve some energy by taking the hill very gently and then start running properly again at the top. I did the hill jogging for one minute and then walking for one minute and so on until I reached the top. The event is ideal for beginners, provided that they don't wear themselves out on the hill. At the end of the run we were served with a wonderful selection of cakes. Many thanks to the organisers.
In full: Have to agree with some of the comments made by the previous reviewer, although I didn’t experience any issues with the marshals myself. I have run this race since its inception in 2011 and although I'm keen to see it continue it has to be said the lack of online results and the general neglected state of the organisers website needs to be addressed in this day and age. In short: Great weather and a great course. Not sure about the organisation. In full: Well done to a cricket club putting on a running race, but that does not mean it can organise a run like a running club can. One marshal looked positively resentful for us running it! A couple of others were completely passive until we asked them the way. Timing was not robust, had to remember it crossing the line, and I think I forgot it. Not sure that results will be published! Hopefully wrong. Apologies for being so negative to some very nice people, but have to warn for future years. Date of review: May 8, 2014
In short: relaxed In full: local but nevertheless a wonderfully laid-back affair. the lack of numbers was a first for me but thankfully didn't cause too many problems (although if more arrive in following years it might), excellent effort for a first time event. quite a tough little course with a climb from 2-3 miles but I had a lady from my running group complete it as her first run so equally attainable. Well done hsvcc - see you next year? Date of review: May 2, 2011
