In short: Good event, well organised, challenging but not that bad. After 5miles steady enough. In full: Bit of an issue with directions at the end but overall superb. Lovely scenery & weather today, it's a challenge but not too tough & you just grind the hills out. Back every year. Fab race. Date of review: July 6, 2014
In short: Very well organised race. The course has most of the hill climbs in rhe first 5 miles, followed by about 3 miles of good downhill stretches. A bit warm today. But the people manning the drinks stations and marshals were excellent. Date of review: July 6, 2014
In short: A tough, honest road race - proper running. In full: Despite it being ridiculously hot (29 degrees), the race was thoroughly enjoyable. The first half is tough, but excellently marshalled and very scenic. Downhills are certainly appreciated, but the last hill requires you to dig deep. Certainly a race against the course, rather than other runners. T-shirt and beer excellent quality. Will be back next year! Date of review: July 8, 2013
In short: Hot, hilly, friendly In full: This is a hilly run - the first 4.5 miles are pretty much relentlessly uphill. Of course the reward afterwards is a steady descent for the next 4 miles before a nasty final mile or so.
The organisation of this race is brilliant. Friendly, efficient marshals and good facilities at the start/ end.
Today's race was made somewhat more challenging by the very hot conditions, but you can't really plan for that. Date of review: July 7, 2013
In short: Fun in the sun In full: Tough race that has been around for a long time. I entered on the day with no problem. Lots of really friendly marshalls offering encouragement which was welcome, especially as conditions were tough. Bottle of beer and a t-shirt at the end from nice helpers. Well done NDRC! The 4 miles up are tough but it is the last mile and a half drag up to the finish that got the better of me again. Maybe next year!!! Date of review: July 7, 2013
In short: A tough race, especially the fisrt 4 miles but brilliantly organised In full: This was a special race for me as I was running it for my main charity, Prostate Cancer UK, who were also the race's chosen charity. We also ran past Ashgate Hospice, which is another charity I've raised money for. The first 4 miles is hard work but you can make time up down the hill and I ended up running more than 10 minutes quicker than I expected. The marshalling is excellent and the bottle of beer at the end is a bonus. Date of review: August 28, 2012
