In short: So-so race in a nice park In full: Start of route not well marked. I saw no distance markers except "3km" (which I measured was at around 2.6k). No obvious signs showing turning into the finishing strait, which I nearly missed. My GPS watch said it was 9.88km in total. Nice to get a t-shirt and medal I guess. Published results showed bib numbers only, needed to cross reference with 2nd sheet showing names/numbers to work out where I'd come. The whole think felt quite amateurish, but that said, I enjoyed it as did lots of other people Date of review: May 9, 2015
In short: underwhelming In full: I did this race with my aunt (her first run, my second) Unfortunately I may have ruined it for myself slightly in regards to my expectations, as my first run was flawlessly organised and orchestrated (Fulham and Putney HM). This was however a challenging race (OMG LAP 3 ON THE FINAL HILL!) and I loved the actual racing part itself. I would say that there needs to be markers other than the lap 1, 2, 3 thing and perhaps that guy giving out the medals could have got off of his phone long enough to have paid me even a second of eye contact and handed me my little medal and T-shirt in a timely, more graceful manner. But you get what you pay for so cant really complain...! My aunt thoroughly enjoyed! Date of review: May 2, 2015
In short: Good local race In full: I don't really mind if it's 10km or 10.xkm - I could get a bus there, pay on the day and go to a pub opposite the park afterwards. Possibly not worth making a special trip, but for locals in this corner of the world, it is really great. Date of review: April 20, 2015
In short: I am sure this race longer than a 10k In full: Don't normally do 10k's as a half marathon runner but as visiting family in London thought I'd enter the race
Race is very good for beginners but I am not sure if distance correct as 'Runkeeper'on phone told me it was 10.5k and Marshall told me that I was at 9.3 on final lap and was well on course to break 50 or even 49 minutes. No chip timing but ok for the price as at least you get a medal, t-shirt, canvas bag and juice drink at finish. Very friendly atmosphere amongst runners
May do another race in the series Date of review: May 4, 2014
In short: Nice park race, but badly organised In full: It was a great day for a race and the turn-out was very positive. Enough toilets that there weren't huge queues (at least for the men) and the registration was relatively pain free.
The organisation during the race was poor. The route actually run bore no resemblance to the map provided. The only water station was at the bottom of the biggest hill on a corner so where everyone was careering around a corner at speed so absolutely impossible tp pick anything up. The stewards were mixed, some very enthusiastic, others invisible. Also no km markings so as someone doing their first race looking for some pacing indications it wasn't good.
But overall it was a great day, relaxed enough that my nerves weren't too bad and I enjoyed a great first race :-D Date of review: May 4, 2014
In short: Last minute organisation In full: As a regular racer i found this race quite poorly organised and marked out As the winner of the race it would have been nice to get a time Not sure what MCC promotions get out of race profits but i hope £10 entry went to a good cause Date of review: April 22, 2014
In short: Friendly local 10k park run In full: Fun and interesting park run with a hill. Good spectator options as it's a three lap race and there's a nice cafe in the centre of the park. Date of review: June 10, 2013
In short: Event should be maintained but needs Work on the organisation In full: 1/ I love the fact that the race was local and the price reasonable. 2/ To me, the overall organisation was ok but could be improved. Maybe, it would be an idea to give the medals and goody bags as soon as the runners pass the finish line so that we don't have to queue again to get them. I also agree that the bottles of water were just wasted. Cups would be more appropriate. 3/ My major concern is that I did not see my Number in the list online. I have contacted them twice to request my time/position. So far they have found it wiser to just ignore me !! Not cool ! Date of review: May 21, 2012
In short: Organisation was rather chaotic but suited a first-time runner In full: First ever race so have little to compare it to. I had feared that I would feel out-of-place but it seemed to attract runners of a good range of abilities. Organisation was rather chaotic but I do appreciate being able to do a race so close to home. Have to say I feared a little for the safety of the little old woman with the little old dog who shuffled across the start-line seconds before the off. Date of review: May 9, 2012
