In short: By far the best 10k event I've taken part in. In full: What a fantastic event - I couldn't fault it. The course was great with some challenging obstacles, it was well organised with really enthusiastic marshalls and the pancakes went down a treat afterwards! Top quality running t-shirt and nice wrist band - much rather have a couple of items like that than a bag full of flyers and sample products. Took two 1st time runners and they loved it. A big thanks to all. Date of review: April 7, 2012
In short: One of the best of its kind In full: Could be a fairly ordinary trail race if it weren't for the obstacles that make it special, especially with marshalls and runners helping people to get round. Goodie bag a bit mean but probably the best T-shirt ever. The only reason for not doing it again is that there are plenty of other events that I haven't done yet. It is a bit pricey but this sort of event usually is with the cost of building the obstacles. A big thank you to everyone involved, including the masseuses at the end and the people who gave me a lift back to the station. Even the trains were on time so a great day out. In short: Muddy, wet and bloody good fun, simply a must for all runners!!! In full: I have done a few event of this nature in the last 2 years and so far this has to be my favourate! A good amount of obstacles although not as challenging as some events the seemed to fit in naturally with the whole course! Two routes on lake crossing and when they deep route they do mean DEEP! I'm 5'11" and there is places I coul not touch the bottom! So far my favourate event T-shirt and I thought the wrist band was a neat little touch, I wish more events did those(i'm still wearing it). Was nice to sit and have a beverage from the beer tent at the end and cheer in the rest of the field! I will be back for more Lone Wolf running next at as many events as they can put on! If you have never done anything like this before then I would Highly recomend giving it a go, you will not be dissapointed!
See you next year Wolf Runners. Date of review: October 12, 2011
In short: Adventure Run with a lake swim, a swamp wade and a bog! (Among other things!) In full: A 10k run with obstacles that were a carefully guarded secret up until the day! The lake swim was unexpected and a lot colder and deeper than expected but welcome at the 7km point as a nice cool off - and it washed some more of the mud off! (And there was a LOT of mud!)
The marshalls were great - you could hear them cheering well before you saw them and they were very helpful and had lots of words of encouragement. "Don't worry about the mud, you'll dry off when you have to climb the straw!"
Really good fun, a great atmosphere and the other runners were really friendly.
You didn't get a medal at the end but you got a wristband - maybe even better as you can wear it after race day without feeling like a twerp! - a good quality technical tshirt, oatmeal bar and a bottle of water. Also a hog roast, music and cake stand were there too. And bouncy castle but this was for the kids as the adults were too exhasuted by this point!
One of the best runs I've done. Only gripw would be that they don't publish the results - would have liked to have seen how far in front of me the first lady was! Date of review: September 27, 2011
