In short: 3rd time lucky In full: I am keen runner & supporter of Jane Tomlinson events having done the half marathon last month too. This is the 3rd time I've run Hull 10k and I enjoy it. The weather was not on our side it didn't stop raining! Great fundraising event & a chance to showcase Hulls finest bits. The organisation was good my only minor moan is the corporate area at the front clogging up runners getting past however as its an event for all I am just glad they support the event so that we can run in hull. In short: Great atmosphere In full: Really enjoyed taking part in this inclusive and lively event which is a brilliant thing for Hull and great for the charities. The congestion was quite bad and the course is a bit twisty to make the most of the marina but having said that I pulled of a PB! Marshals and supporters were excellent Date of review: May 16, 2011

In short: Mmmmmmmmmmmmm In full: In a fit of enthusiasm I entered all 3 JT 10ks at the reduced cost of £50 as it really is a worthwhile cause so I have no gripes about those that take part who raise thousands of pounds. But - as a club runner, the race could've been better or maybe I just had an off day. Arrived early and parked easily not too far from the start. Plenty of toilets and things looked good at the start. Nursing a dodgy calf strain I joined the masses near the back not realising I was in with the walkers which took a good 5 minutes to clear the start line. No big problem as I wasn't racing anyway but as someone else said the charity and fun runners did block the way just about all the way round as the course seemed narrow most of the way round. Not in a rush tried to settle down but just couldn't get any sort of rhythm going dodging in and out of groups of walkers and runners who seemed to find it difficult to go in a straight line. Not knowing the area the course did seem convoluted with many twists and bends adding to the congestion. There were many sorts of surface ranging from cobbles to potholes, pedestrian precincts, quayside, bridges and normal tarmac estate roads, quite a combination. Looking up and around, it was a pothole that was my undoing when I went a*** over elbow taking the skin off my knee and bruising my ribs! Oh well, at least the scenery was 'interesting' contrasting between the riverside, the Deep, the marina, the city centre and all points in between. Despite the ribs giving me some pain, managed to finish and collect the goody bag from the XL section. As I wasn't feeling too good I didn't bother checking the contents until I got back to the car only to find despite the kind volunteer's assurance that the t-shirt was XL, it was a size small. Oh well, mistakes can happen, as it did again when I received a text message with the wrong name and finish time although it was corrected later in the afternoon. On the plus side, good cause, good marshalls and excellent support - it just wasn't my day! Date of review: May 16, 2011

In short: Nice race; with a little polishing could be a great one In full: Nice atmosphere for most of the race, with lovely, if rather short stretches alongside the Humber. PB unlikely with so many 90 degree turns and lots of fun runners who started near front blocking path in narrow bits. Only saw three km markers - the rest, if there, were invisible because all white and turned parallel to runners in wind. Nice sprint finish. Date of review: May 15, 2011

In short: GREAT RACE and ATMOSPHERE In full: Superbly organised like last year, a real credit to Hull and the Jane Tomlinson Charity.
The course is flat with plenty of corners but is PB potential. Another warm day that made conditions just right.
Thanks again for a great morning Date of review: May 15, 2011
