In short: This was a great race! A challenging, hilly race, but with absolutely beautiful scenery. It was very well organised In full: A great race and definitely one to add to the list of ones to do! Very well organised, although there is no real internet presence for it - you really have to go searching on the website to find the information. Stunning scenery and very hilly, but I surprised myself with a PB (despite walking uphill at one point!). I only have one criticism - sorry! The medal is utterly awful. There's nothing to suggest it was the Ashbourne half on either the medal or the ribbon. Effort had gone into engraving the medal, but only with "Sponsored by Aldi"! I would have happily paid a few pounds more and got a decent medal out of it! Quite literally my daughter has a better medal for her school egg and spoon race. I will do it again though! In short: A hilly course, as you'd expect, in the Peak District. The marshalls and people manning the drinks stations were excellent. The scenery is amazing around Dovedale and Ilam. Only negative, the medal. Better to donate the money to the Air Ambulance Date of review: September 15, 2015
In short: Hard and hilly with fantastic scenery In full: I loved this race, but had no chance of a PB. The first 7 miles are hard with 3 fairly serious up's and some very serious downs. Once you are past that point it flattens out for the last few miles. The course is mostly rural.
The scenery is just fantastic, we were watching hang gliders enjoying the weather and there were some splendid views.
Great organisation. The first part of the race had road closures, but thereafter they were quiet but open roads. But you felt safe, the marshals were wonderful.
Would I do it again - yes, but I need to work more on the hills. Its not an easy or a PB run, but if you work hard at training you will love it. Date of review: September 13, 2015
In short: A challenging course with some amazing scenery. Excellent organisation. Thanks to the marshalls and people manning the drinks stations. One of my favourite half marathons. Date of review: September 17, 2014

In short: The scenery makes up for the hills In full: A hilly first 8.5 miles with the worst at about mile 3 and mile 6.5. After the top of that second one it's pretty much all downhill or flat running. The scenery is stunningly beautiful.
Impeccably organised with plenty of friendly marshals, water and a friendly announcer at the end welcoming every runner home by name. Date of review: September 16, 2013
In short: A challenging half marathon. The course takes you through some beautiful parts of the Peak District. Marshalls are excellent. Crowd support on the course is a bit sparse but great at the finish. Date of review: September 15, 2013
