In short: Great event in amazing scenic location In full: This was my first time doing the 'Plod,' even though I've been running in the locality for some time. The event, though fairly small and low key, was really well run (excuse the pun) and the course is very scenic. Not too hilly (apart from the last mile or so where you go back up the gentle slope you belt it down at the start!), and the roads are fairly quiet so you can just get your head down and plod along (groan!). There are water stations at regular intervals, as well as marshalls helpfully pointing the way. There are no massive crowds to cheer you on - this is rural Dorset after all - but I think the race benefits from this slightly 'remote' feeling. Overall, this is a very enjoyable and fantastically scenic race - well worth the meagre entry fee. Date of review: June 18, 2012

In short: Glorious weather and a great run around Dorset In full: Did this race last year in the pouring rain but even then could see that this was a pretty good place for a road race so promised myself would do it again this year (rain or shine). Luckily the sun was shining and the 20k course around Puddletown goes through country lanes and pretty little villages. It was a pleasure to run and even though this year wasn’t a league race there were quite a few club runners there to enjoy the course. The finish was great. After picking up your t-shirt you were offered copious amounts of chocolate, choc ices, ice lollies and squash, the latter going down a treat as we were quite hot by then. A real friendly atmosphere at the end and if you wanted you could use the school facilities to freshen up. Managed to run it seven minutes faster than last year too so well happy!
