In short: Well organised with a great atmosphere In full: The pre race organisation was superb, my number arrived in good time together with a sheet giving me all the advance detail I would need. On arrival at the sports ground it was easy to park and find friends. We were led to the start by marshalls with large banners and the start was marked with pens to indicate potential times. The weather was warm and the race got underway. The marshals were encouraging and from time to time spectators were out in the villages. Upon arriving back in Long Bennington there was a lot more spectators and encouraged runners to a fast finish. Although this was not my best time I enjoyed the event and the bottle of beer at the end is a nice touch. Changing facilities are available here but I have to say with about 20 men in a small room changing was a bit of a challenge. I will certainly be looking to enter again next year. Well done Grantham! In short: Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back! Great value event. Thank you to the organisers & friendly marshalls. In full: Really good event. Perfect for all levels of runner. Warm & friendly atmosphere. Wouldn't say it's a PB course, it was a bit hot & agree with other comment about water bottles at water station. Great goodie bag & all staff & facilities were fantastic. It was my first race of the year & I went off a bit too hard so the second half of the race felt painful and attritional. Great to chat with other runners after the finish. Everyone seemed to have loved it! I plan to return. Thank you again to everyone involved in the organisation of the event. Loved the little girl cheering us on early and late on in the race. Brilliant! Date of review: June 23, 2013
In short: Gets better every year In full: Really enjoyed the race. Lovely weather if anything too hot for 7.15 in the evening! Only criticism would be that it would be better to hand out small water bottles at water station or have the water station better equipped as I couldn't get a drink because there wasn't a cup of water ready and didn't want to stop and wait for one. See you again next year! 3rd year I've ran it and keep coming back! Date of review: June 22, 2013
In short: A much improved race from an already exellent first year. In full: This is was my second outing at this race and it was great to see it improve from an already great first year. The new race HQ was perfect and the 300 strong field was about right for a mid week race.
I took 3 seconds off last years time. Given the wind on the day I was fairly happy with that.
I'll be back next year. Date of review: July 3, 2012
In short: A great local 10k. In full: First time at this event having missed last year due to work commitments. The event is just the right size with a 300 runner limit. I thought the organisation was first class and the marshals very encouraging and vocal. A quick course despite the windy conditions. Lots of local club runners but still beginner friendly. A bottle of beer at the finish was nice, however I'm not sure this was appreciated by everyone. I'll be back next year for sure. Date of review: June 23, 2012
In short: Excellent race. One not to be missed! In full: This was the first time I'd done this race and I wasn't disappointed. Despite the horrendously windy conditions, I finally did a sub-60 10k!! Because the ground was so wet from recent rain, parking on the grounds wasn't available but there was more than enough safe road parking for all. Everyone gathered in the pavillion, where there are good toilets and showers. There's a short walk to the start, which gives you a chance to warm up. There were starting areas depending on your anticipated finishing time, which helped stop a lot of the bottlenecking you usually get at races. Marshaling was great and the route was fairly quiet, with most motorists being respectful. Local support was good with a great atmosphere at the finish. Can't think of a single negative! I'll be back next year!! Date of review: June 23, 2012
In short: Best memento ever In full: Bit congested at the start but a nice level course that takes in a large oval. Very accurately measured as well according to my Garmin. Pretty fast field. Your reward for finishing was a bottle of boutique micro-brewery beer, an opener and a bag of crisps! Real ale outside bar at the clubhouse and a sausage cob merchant next to it. So everyone hung around at end and it was very social. Date of review: June 23, 2012
