In short: 5th year of running it will still come back for more
In full: Once again this race was a highlight on my race calendar. I stood at the start line in torrential rain for an hour but that didn't seem to bother anyone. The skies cleared as soon as the race started and it turned out to be a very pleasant run.

I had a green number and there were marshals with big signs dictating starting zones based on predicted times, but still a lot of people didn't pay attention to them or simply overestimated their abilities. This causes a bit of a hazard in the first km with trying to dodge people, especially with such a congested race, but once the field thins out it's not as much of a problem.

The organisation was spot on, we had no trouble finding somewhere to park, and there were plenty of water points available. I don't know what happened to the live music that was on the route in previous years, perhaps they thought better of singing in the rain.

Despite not particularly pushing things until the 9km point I missed out on a PB by just seconds, so there's definitely speed potential with this course.

In short: Brilliant Morning Out!
In full: Really well organised event. Great atmosphere. Didn't get the time I wanted due to carrying a bit of an injury but I'll nail it next year. Recommend it to anyone especially newbies!

In short: Great atmosphere, good support- looking forward to next year!
In full: The organisation for over 9000 runners was excellent. There were plenty of water stations and clear KM markers along the route. This was my first 10K race and I was hoping to do a good time, but I totally underestimated the amount of people traffic! The road didn't get clear untill about 7km, but i'll know to make my way closer to the front for next year.

Great atmosphere from the other runners and the support.

In short: Consistently good!
In full: Despite the pre-race downpour, race conditions were pretty perfect from the off. Plentiful supplies of water and support around the course make it an extremely pleasant and welcoming race, particularly for newbies.

I an off green this year, which was far better, proper timing groups and through the start quickly. My previous experience off red was one of a much better group warm up but frustration in getting across the line and avoiding bottle necks through the first couple of kilometres.

The small alteration to the course didn't impact much, just added to the usual winding route. No hills to speak of but if you are after a PB in Leeds, the Abbey Dash is the way to go. Still, it is quick, has a great atmosphere and the organisers got the t-shirts spot on this year. Well done!

In short: Excellent, well organised race
In full: As always very well organised, route around Leeds city centre so not going to be very picturesque, but great for those watching as it provides several viewpoints without having to move far. The crowd support and atmosphere was fantastic in spite of the rain! Nice T-shirt and usual non-goody bag for all finishers, plenty of bottled water on route. Good race for both elite and beginner runners.

In short: Very enjoyable 1st ever 10k
In full: As this was my 1st 10k run I've nothing to comapre it to. However the atmosphere was outstanding the entire length of the run despite the downpour for the hour before!!
The start could be a little better organised as there was a huge bottle neck and lots of walkers/fancy dress groups too far forward for even my newbies pace which resulted in a good 5 minites before I could even start to job and lots of running around people.
I did the run as part of 'Run with the Rhinos' sp received an extra special running shirt before the event and discounted entry fee.

Can't wait to beat my time next year!!

In short: Mind the puddle(s)
In full: The rain stopped just about in time. A really well organised race, with excellent supportive marshalls and good support all the way along the route.
Still a gripe with the start although better with red and green bibs split, but quickly coming back together along the Headrow leading to a lot of congestion and bottlenecks for the first 2 - 3km.
Great atmosphere though, good t shirt, enjoyable race with a great cause and name at its core.

In short: Good race despite the weather
In full: Strangely enough I managed to hit a new PB by 35secs. Not bad going considering the damp/wet conditions, huge bottleneck at the start and the few climbs to contend with.

Although it was a good race, my major gripe (other than the unfortunate weather) was the amount of slow paced runners and walkers at the front near the start line. This cause a huge backlog of runners waiting to get running after crossing the startline. It must have been at least a couple of minutes before I managed to do anything that at least resembled some kind of running action. It also took the first couple of miles to get fully up to race pace due to dodging and weaving in and out of the slow runners/walkers who decided to start near the front before the gun went off.

Perhaps next year the organiser might consider pens depending on your predicted finish time.

All in all a good race and a big thank you to the 100s of council workers and volunteers that gave up their time to marshall the race. They did a superb job.

In short: Great atmosphere and lots of fun, despite the rain.
In full: This was by far the biggest race I've done, and I agree with other reviewers that it would have helped if people intending to walk started nearer the back as getting throught the first 2-3km was a bit of a pain at times.

However the atmosphere was fantastic, and the marshalls very encouraging. It was lovely to get so much support from people I didn't know as I ran round (dressed as a bunnygirl!) and would definately run it again. The torrential rain didn't seem to dampen the spirits.

P.S. In response to the comment above, I'm sorry you had so much trouble parking. If you do decide to come back there is usually plenty of parking at the University if people are coming by car.
