In short: My first race. I throughly enjoyed the day. I made the effort to get to the start early and I am glad I did. Ladies in baggae area had no idea, how many people went home with no t-shirt and no medal? Would recommend to first timer.

In short: Poorly organised rip off run. great london route and supporters
In full: This is not an ASICS sponsored run anymore as its destroys the brand for Asics. No wonder they dont have a sponsor this year. Being a big 25,000 runner race it will be crowded and hard to get a PB even if it is a flat course.
But plenty of great supporters as its a London event.
I knew it will be crowded with all levels of runners so I sneaked as near to start as possible. But, I still had to weave round slow runners and walkers. I managed a PB only due to forced slow pacing from blockages on first few KM's allowing me to run faster on last 7 KM's.
Medal and tshirt does not reflect the price and hyped up event. Medal was disappointingly cheap, strap is ripping apart alreay. Goody bag had nothing in it worth mentioning.
Event was unorganised as no one takes to you to start. You follow the crowd. The medals and tshirts were help yourself at the baggage bays. I saw lots of people take extra tshirts and medals. Although they are crap medals and tshirts, but if you overcharge for the event and dont give out the medals/tshirts yourselves and leave them in boxes. People will get greedy. I hope everyone got a medal and tshirt as it was a free for all the baggage bay.
I was at the finish line until 12 taking pictures with family and friends. There was lots of water and gatorade left. This should have been given to runners in goody bags. As any leftovers are part of runners entry fee.
Being the 11th year, it will never change. It will remain unorganised as they havent learnt and not interested in improving. We all know about race times, pens, colours and medals at finish lines. Organisers dont need to read our comments they should know if they want to be successful events organisers or are they businessmen?
2012 is £50 and it is all hyped up again but I am sucked into the run as it is the big 2012. I am sure it will be a rip off for the money.
I already registered for BUPA 10,000 without hesitation. British 10k places will still be open until the last week again. No need to register early.

In full:
#British 10K. That's it! All done! It's all over! And it was a disappointment. As a fun run - great! Great atmosphere, great entertainment but as a PB setting run - a disappointment. Too many runners at the start, route too narrow for the number of runners, too many people walking and holding hands across the route for God's sake! Chaos at the water stations. Organisers could have tried a staggered start or used both sides of the road for the first few kilometres. Aaaaargh!!!! Official time: 52:22 and I didn't even push myself.

In short: Too bad it is not beter organized!
In full: Was among the front 100 runners therefore avoided the walkers and managed to do a PB.
1/ Positives
- Nice athmosphere
- scenic route
- enough water stations
- good music at the finishing line
2/ Negatives
- no starting pens
- race start 20 mns delayed
- no timing chips for everybody
- tunnels
- 3 u-turns on the road instead of running around a block creating bottleneck
£50 for next year race is not good value!

In short: No Chance of a PB would be a fab run if they introduced timing pens or even start the walkers and the fun runners off at a different time, would love to do it again but would not pay £50 next year unless better organised.

In short: Get some starting pens!
In full: I was one of the lucky ones...I managed to get myself to the front. I reckon there were about 300 people in front of me at the start and I took a minute to get over the start line. But within seconds I was bumping into walkers! And not walkers on the side of the road, but walkers right down the middle as nobody told them otherwise. I run the Great North every year - they manage to segment 50000 runners up nicely and there's no reason why they couldn't do it here. I ran a decent time yesterday, but if I was any further back I would have had no chance.
The start of the race is disorganised, the lack of toilet provision is pretty criminal (yes we know, there's no space on pavements they tell us....can't you stick some portaloos in Green Park?), the end had no meeting point for families, and the goody bag was full on RUBBISH!
Oh and how could they let the mayoress of westminster, or whoever she was, turn up 15 minutes late and keep 25000 people waiting.
Still, the scenery is good, and it's a nice flat course on the whole. It has so much potential but they manage to totally mess it up.
And what's all this about paying more to chip time? Just have it as standard.

In full: a very bad experience through lack of organisation.
having got there resonably early and making my way to the start line i was still astounded to find myslef well back in the crowd and right from the off zig-zagging my way around the 'fun runners', walkers and fancy dressers. is there any need for these people to fight their way to the front, as many were, just to then hold up people who are trying to get a decent time, and have paid extra for the timing chip.
i found the baggage bays easily at the start of the day and to be honest was quick enough to drop my bag off, but then at the end of the day the 'cages' around the bays had been removed and 3 or 4 lots of previously split up numbers were all of a sudden together, making finding ones bags very hard.
after the lengthy walk to the start line we waited then at 0925 we had a tannoy announcement warning of a 5 minute delay to the start, and then we heard nothing more until 0947 when we were all told how great we were for being there etc... and that went on for far too long when many people stood around me were keen just to get running, eventually the countdown began at 0954 after many renditions & verses of the national athem.
the actual route was a pleasant enough run around with minimal elevation difference, but i was getting increasingly frustrated with each 'bottle-neck' which could easily be avoided by planning the route around a 'block' instead of halfway up a road to then get turned around, and also despite it being in the 'race-day pack' advising 'slower' runners to keep to the right, there was no evidence of there being any signage advising of this on the day, meaning you could dart from behind a walker on one side to be met by a group of giggling girls, skipping hand in hand blocking everyones paths that wanted to get past.
the goody bag was/is a complete waste of hand luggage space on the train home to yorkshire, and having to fight for a t-shirt after first spending 15 mins trying to direct a lady on finding my bag was simply rediculous, the t-shirts were not clearly marked in size order, and if i hadn't asked some kindly gentleman if he had a medal in his bag, i wouldn't have known that the medals were in fact being stored separately in a black bin liner at the end of the row, and i would've come home without it. making the day an even bigger waste of money.
i have unfortunately fallen into the hype of the '12th London 10km' with it being the famous 2012 and all that rubbish, so i am sad to say i WILL be running this next year, but from then, this is one run i will be staying well clear of. a big thumbs down.

In short: Scenic, great atmosphere however the fact that they didn't have starting pens meant that if you are a resonable average runner you would get caught up by much slower runners after about 5-10 minutes.

In short: 2012 Overkill.
In full: Firstly I want to mention the 2012 title above. Apart from the programme and the back of your number going on about next years race (£50 by the way), the medal has a side dedicated to NEXT years race, as does your t-shirt. A bit much really and takes the special edge of this years race.To the chap above, I certainly don't agree with the comment that 50% didn't get medals. I got there early and was up the front, if I had been waiting a mile away at the back I may well have walked off. The medal was very poor if you've seen a picture of last years Asics one. I was 100% doing next years, now I am 75%.
