In short: This review's for the 2013 Waddesdon 5k .. In full: ... not sure how other races have come to be reviewed under Waddesdon's name!
Excellent organisation as always. A tough little race though - as if the climb from 2.5k to 4k wasn't energy-sapping enough, the gravel underfoot in the last km on the lap around the manor is quite draining! But a very satisfying way to finish a race, heading up the drive towards the house ...and with another new mug! Date of review: July 18, 2013
In short: Scenic but hot! In full: This is for the Princes Risborough 10k (just in case it shows up in the Waddesdon Manor 5k reviews).
The start in Princes Risborough is good - there's plenty of parking, toilets and lots of the cafes open early for the race. The race goes mostly on small backroads beyond the town - they aren't closed off but there isn't much traffic and the marshalling is very good.
There are some good views around the Chilterns, it does make you want to return for a walk.
Kudos to the organisers for getting extra water points out on a very hot day. A bit thank you also to the people with water sprays outside their houses, it was much appreciated.
No medal but a nice mug, and very friendly atmosphere. Would definitely consider doing again. Date of review: July 7, 2013
In short: Great little race, the front is nuts and the scenary at the top is fantastic In full: Very enjoyable and I cannot run hills. The best thing was that the course had to be changed at the last minute and everything ran smoothly. The only thing that was a bit odd was that we set off 5 minutes early without much forewarning which caught a few unawares. Date of review: June 2, 2013
In short: Well organised race on a fairly undulating course. In full: Will be back next year again but would like a little more than a cup to remember it by. Interesting scenic course with some good inclines to keep you on your toes. Date of review: July 12, 2012
In short: Great value race and challenging!! In full: This review is for Princes Risboro, not Hughendon.
A real snip at £12, entries on the day an extra £2, I think. Great value. Well organised, well supported, fantastic marshalls. Scenary great, it may be more difficult in the sun, altho a 9.30 start good.
A small but v friendly field 250 - 300 I would say, with a mixture of club and non-club runners.
Not an easy course at all, quite undulating. Mug and orange juice at the end. Dont bother paying £50 to enter London 10k, when you can do this one instead. Well done VOAAC!!! Date of review: July 9, 2012
In short: Fantastic classic hill race. In full: This is a challenging hill race on the chalk scarp above Wendover. Everyone should do this at least once. It is a little gem. Dont be put off by the hill bit, you can walk that! :) Date of review: June 4, 2012
In short: Always the week after Thame 10K and is always cooler which is a big help. Enough up and downs on the route to let you know you have done it but without being gruelling. Enjoyable race. Date of review: July 3, 2011
