In short: Not acceptable to run out of water! In full: This was my 3rd Eastleigh 10k. It's a good race with a nice fast course. I quite like the tshirt rather than medal, at least you can make use of it afterwards!
BUT big gripe, I finished in 59.08, a perfectly respectable time in a gun position 1846 out of 2333 runners. The water had run out! That is not acceptable. Water should be provided for every runner. Please sort out for next year Eastleigh! Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: A well organised, possibly PB race In full: Considering the fact that there were over 2,000 runners, things went really well. Good encouraging marshalls, cake and bananas at the finish, and a rather seventies oriented orange t shirt collected before the race.
Very cold but bright, and ideal running conditions. I was over a minute quicker than last year.
It took quite a while leaving the car park, but that was to be expected with the high volume of cars.
Very well done to the Organisers, and I'll be back again next year, all being well. Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: Good easy race but ran out of water In full: A good well marshaled race however no water at the end especially as I wasn't at the back and they knew how many runner had signed up. Poor effort from Southern Water who said they supplied it! Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: pb is possible In full: this race is made for speed,i had no issues with the organization and marshalls were very supportive.with nearly 3000 runners expect it to be busy but a good race for those moving up from say a parkrun or race for life Date of review: March 23, 2014
In short: Water? In full: Good race overall. But what sort of race runs out of water?? Only one table had water at the 6k point and they were scooping it out of the barrel and giving it to you so you had to stop and wait. All other tables had run out. Most of it seemed to be on the road?
At the end of the race, where you got cake, banana and water they also ran out just as we got there. There was (according to the results) about 500+ runners behind me who obviously didn't get water too.
Not a major issue for a coolish 10k but you know how many people have entered, 'cater' accordingly please. Date of review: March 23, 2014
In short: Reasonable organisation but lack of medal really knocks the score down In full: Course was ok bit dull (but that's eastleigh), marshals were excellent. Good course for PB (knocked nearly 2 mins off mine). The organisation at the start could have been better, walked around the leisure centre a couple of times before finding where the start was. The biggest disappointment was the lack of medal, for what is supposedly one of the biggest local events not to have a medal but instead get a very poor t-shirt which is clearly designed just to be free advertising for the sponsor B & Q just isn't good enough. in Summary a good race but let down by the back of house.
