In short: Good quality field, well organised, fast 10k. In full: Race set-up is very good, handy sports centre close to start/finish, excellent organisation, and the race attracts a quality field, so good for pulling you around for a fast time. There is an incline at 3.5k but this is followed by a very gentle downhill/flat section which takes you through to 8k, before a few more turns and then a final k to the finish. I'm really not that bothered about scenery when PB-chasing, but the support on course for a local race was pretty good, and the whole set-up is very well run. I also like the field size, large enough for a bit of atmosphere, not so large that you get the queues of a mass event. (The toilets seemed to be a particularly hassle-free experience compared to some races!) PB bagged, would run again! Date of review: March 23, 2015
In short: Dreary In full: The run was decently organised. Friendly supportive marshals. No problems. Roads were closed, and the route was safe. One water station at around 6K, and then a water bottle and bananas and jaffa cakes at the end. Queue to pick up the decent t-shirt in the hall after the race.
Pretty much your standard 10K run. Nothing special there.
But the route! Quite possibly the worse scenery of any race I've done. You would not run along these streets by choice. So dreary and dispiriting. Chatted with the organiser afterwards, and mentioned the route. He said it was chosen because it's flat. There is a slight incline around 3 - 4 k. Nothing serious, but enough to spoil chances of a PB if that's what you're after, so I don't see the attraction. But this is one of the most popular 10ks in this part of the country. Each to their own, but with some cracking runs taking place in the New Forest nearby I can't understand why people come here. Date of review: March 22, 2015
In short: Went like clockwork, well done organisers! In full: Had a great time today, organisers were Really happy getting my number transferred, the marshall directing cars was very kind to point us in the right direction of some nearby parking as race car park was full. The tech t shirt is awesome for the price of entry and marshalling was really well organised. Date of review: March 22, 2015
In short: GET OUT THE WAY!!! In full: Very quick course with PB on the cards if runners listen to instruction. When the starter asked all the slower runners to go toward the rear, that meant YOU, the people running 8-9 minute miles slowing everyone else down. Other than that, marshalls were great, race was great and weather was brilliant. Will be back next year. Date of review: March 22, 2015
In short: Great Day Out In full: Really enjoyed the race today and weather certainly helped. Very friendly crowd and fast times possible. Certainly will come back next year. Date of review: March 22, 2015
In short: Not acceptable to run out of water! In full: This was my 3rd Eastleigh 10k. It's a good race with a nice fast course. I quite like the tshirt rather than medal, at least you can make use of it afterwards!
BUT big gripe, I finished in 59.08, a perfectly respectable time in a gun position 1846 out of 2333 runners. The water had run out! That is not acceptable. Water should be provided for every runner. Please sort out for next year Eastleigh! Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: A well organised, possibly PB race In full: Considering the fact that there were over 2,000 runners, things went really well. Good encouraging marshalls, cake and bananas at the finish, and a rather seventies oriented orange t shirt collected before the race.
Very cold but bright, and ideal running conditions. I was over a minute quicker than last year.
It took quite a while leaving the car park, but that was to be expected with the high volume of cars.
Very well done to the Organisers, and I'll be back again next year, all being well. Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: Good easy race but ran out of water In full: A good well marshaled race however no water at the end especially as I wasn't at the back and they knew how many runner had signed up. Poor effort from Southern Water who said they supplied it! Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: pb is possible In full: this race is made for speed,i had no issues with the organization and marshalls were very supportive.with nearly 3000 runners expect it to be busy but a good race for those moving up from say a parkrun or race for life Date of review: March 23, 2014
