In short: Great fast friendly 10 miler In full: Well organised friendly and welcoming race. Fast PB 2 lap course, spot on measurements and mile markers. Water in cups but lots of it. Not chip timing but results very accurate and out quick. OK medal. Good communication before the event. Lots of marshals, most were pretty quiet but coped well with traffic. Not enough ladies toilets at the start and nowhere to leave bags, which was a bit of an issue when the car parking was a little walk away. Overall a really good race Date of review: November 18, 2014
In short: Fast 10 mile race and well organised by Preston Harriers. In full: Good parking and top race HQ with well organised registration/number collection, changing rooms with showers and value for money refreshments.
Race start was well organised and majority of runners seem to start in the most appropriate place so it is easy to get into your running. Mile markers all spot on and 3 water stations on the route. Course is flat and though some say stretch down dual carriage way is boring I am ok as I look to the left if I am bored and get a nice view of the fields :)
Mainly club runners but as an unattached run I would say it is welcoming and the marshalls/orgnisers are all friendly and helpful. Great race. Date of review: November 17, 2014
In short: Old School type road race with PB potential. In full: This is a basic road race dominated by club runners from near and far, many of whom are chasing a good time. Decent base at the school and a very flat 2 lap course. Couple of water stations and a (basic Spar) mug as a momento. Ideal if you want to look for a PB or a step up to longer races with the 2 laps and flat profile allowing you to pace yourself successfully. It was my 3rd time at Hutton and I`ll be back again. In short: Fast two lap course on roads, well marshalled, PB potential and semi rural so prettier than the words "bypass" may suggest. In full: Managed to post a very decent (for me) time in my first 10 mile race thanks to a very smooth course. It has some slight undulations but is mainly flat and run along suburban roads and the side of a bypass. Thanks to all the marshalls making it possible to run safely with the traffic - very nicely done. And thanks to the organisers for making hot drinks/soup etc. available at the school which serves as the start/finish/changing point. Much needed on a foggy morning in West Lancashire. More scenic than I expected as the roads are passing through semi-rural farmland type scenery. The odd worm hazard as they tried to slither across footpaths on a damp morning - but only hazardous to the poor worms! Date of review: November 21, 2011
In short: Quick In full: Despite a relatively small number of runners – 387 – parking was a little awkward and we had to cross a dual carriageway to reach the event. The scenery was nothing special, a 2 lap route around a semi-rural housing estate and along the afore mentioned carriageway. And the only “prize” for finishing was a mug. But the big plus point for this race is that it’s so flat and quick a PB is a easily possible, so much so that about a dozen from my club - myself included - did achieve PBs! I don’t think I’ll be entering this again in 2011 though, I’ll try other locations instead. Date of review: January 26, 2011
In short: Flat out PB Course In full: Not a pretty course but this is a dream for those chasing a PB, (cock up on the first lap not-withstanding). Apart from a railway bridge to cross, there is barely an incline on this flat, fast course and the majority of runners seemed rto be set on a fast time. Brilliant marshalling over the few road crossings helped to keep the rythym up. The finishers mug is a nice touch too: bright red with the race details on it. Soup available at the end was welcome on such a fresh day too! Got a PB this year and will be back for more next year. Date of review: December 13, 2010
In short: Quick course raced by lots of very good runners In full: My ratings are a mix because I like this race but there was a cock-up which affected my result and this surprised me from an event and a club (Preston) with good reputations. I thought we`d been sent a wrong (longer) way on the first lap and that fear proved founded resulting in me missing a PB by a few seconds. Disappointing outcome on a perfect day for racing.
In short: perfect morning for this race. In full: WELL DONE TO THE ORGANISERS,MARSHALLS ETC,the parking, collection of numbers, info etc all spot-on.First class weather to do this double loop race.Good turnout, plenty club runners. First 10 miler for me so it was a p.b. Date of review: November 22, 2010
