In short: Fast two lap course on roads, well marshalled, PB potential and semi rural so prettier than the words "bypass" may suggest.
In full: Managed to post a very decent (for me) time in my first 10 mile race thanks to a very smooth course. It has some slight undulations but is mainly flat and run along suburban roads and the side of a bypass. Thanks to all the marshalls making it possible to run safely with the traffic - very nicely done. And thanks to the organisers for making hot drinks/soup etc. available at the school which serves as the start/finish/changing point. Much needed on a foggy morning in West Lancashire. More scenic than I expected as the roads are passing through semi-rural farmland type scenery. The odd worm hazard as they tried to slither across footpaths on a damp morning - but only hazardous to the poor worms!

In short: Quick
In full: Despite a relatively small number of runners – 387 – parking was a little awkward and we had to cross a dual carriageway to reach the event. The scenery was nothing special, a 2 lap route around a semi-rural housing estate and along the afore mentioned carriageway. And the only “prize” for finishing was a mug. But the big plus point for this race is that it’s so flat and quick a PB is a easily possible, so much so that about a dozen from my club - myself included - did achieve PBs! I don’t think I’ll be entering this again in 2011 though, I’ll try other locations instead.

In short: Flat out PB Course
In full: Not a pretty course but this is a dream for those chasing a PB, (cock up on the first lap not-withstanding). Apart from a railway bridge to cross, there is barely an incline on this flat, fast course and the majority of runners seemed rto be set on a fast time.
Brilliant marshalling over the few road crossings helped to keep the rythym up. The finishers mug is a nice touch too: bright red with the race details on it. Soup available at the end was welcome on such a fresh day too! Got a PB this year and will be back for more next year.

In short: Good, fast, flat course
In full: Beautiful morning for running but the marshals must have been freezing, many thanks to them.

In short: Quick course raced by lots of very good runners
In full: My ratings are a mix because I like this race but there was a cock-up which affected my result and this surprised me from an event and a club (Preston) with good reputations. I thought we`d been sent a wrong (longer) way on the first lap and that fear proved founded resulting in me missing a PB by a few seconds. Disappointing outcome on a perfect day for racing.

In short: Well organised race
In full: This was a very well organised race right from pre-race parking to marshalling during the race and friendly atmosphere after. The momento in the shape of mug is a nice touch.

A special thanks to the marshalls who kept the flow of runner going despite car traffic in places.

As for PB? I cut 8 minutes off my prevous of 74.

Where's next year's entry form?
