In short: A great event
In full: A really enjoyable event. If you have a special PB-category for a 10k 'trail' race, then this event could easily provide it. Marshalls were friendly and efficient, if not effusive - but no criticism from me for that. Loo facilities a bit limited, but hey - go before you leave home!

I'll definitely be back, and would recommend the event to anyone. Who cares if the loud-hailer fails, you just start running when the guy in front does! The congestion noted by another reviewer was largely down to an unfortunate faller - but there but for the grace of god etc.

In short: Grown Too Big?
In full: A little gem that may now appear to have grown too big?

Although my first year, some points from last year were not picked up on - the start for instance which again wasn't heard by many of us.

Very hot conditions which didn't help and many runners suffered greatly with at least one having to take a trip in the ambulance.

Toilets were ok. Some queues but nothing excessive.

Setting is very scenic tho' gravel tracks didn't help those of us already feeling the conditions. Facilities were goog and the BBQ on the village green was nice.

Volunteers were plenty and generally fine but could have been a little more encouraging.

It's def a little gem and organisers should be given credit but maybe it's time to put a limit of 4-500.

Well done tho'. A good local race which may be a victim of it's own success. Will do next year!

In short: Second time - and we're out
In full: Not one for leaving poor feedback but here goes. This is the first time that I've been to an event and the organisation is worse than the previous year. So if you want a race where:

The race announcer cannot fathom a loud hailer so race instructions are not heard (see last years positive comments - where I suggested a working loud hailer).

Th race announcer failed to ask (or maybe we just never heard her) anyone expecting above 40 mins to step away from the front few rows meaning there was far too many slower runners at the very, very front - infact the worst I've ever experienced in dozens of large and small races.

The race starter could not fathom how to use a klaxon - so resorted to saying 'go' - meaning no-one at the back (or middle) heard.

Where there was nowhere to get changed post race after a very hot run (hottest day of the year I understand) - let alone get washed or showered. Whose bright idea was it to lock the changing rooms 15 mins before the race and then not open them?

Where there were less toilets open this year than last year even though there were more entrants this year!! The bowling green toilets being closed and the school havin only two toilets which were mixed. Am sure the cricketers loved seeing runners urinate close to the outfield in their desperation!!

Whilst thankful they were there (I marshall myself) the marshalls throughout the first 5k were shamefully quiet - only from 6k did any shout the slightest bit of encouragement.

The water station on 5k was fine for us at the front - but for those further back was like a scene from its a knock out with drinks being grabbed (and dropped) due to not enough people helping and not enough pre-planning of already poured drinks.

The poor car park stewards were left in a real pickle with far too many cars.

You may as well save yourself the cost for hiring the clock too as it was positioned such that people could stand in front of it - meaning that no-one could see it!

The race isnt fit for purpose as it stands - we'll not be back - I guess no-one will read this anyway.

Changing facilities, enough toilets, car parking, poor water station and too miserable stewards for all dont make up for a half decent course.

Thank you to the stewards at the end of the race who did lift us - it is appreciated indeed.

Well worth the day from Cleethorpes.. Just ashame about having to go shopping in York after the event.. :-( (bit of give and take I guess..!).. Great kids event also. Lad throughly enjoyed the fun run. Many thanks to all that supported the race and gave up free time to assist/help out.. Will be back next year..!!

In short: Great race, lovely route & well organised
In full: This was only the 2nd year this race has been done, however apart from the queue for numbers, perhaps next year this could be broken down into alpabetical sub groups to speed up the process, the organisation was spot on. The only gripe - we didnt hear the countdown to the start, so it was a bit of a surprise when everyone just started running! Lovely setting in a typically English village with a duck pond on the village green, bbq & other refreshment stalls, cricket in the next field. Plenty of parking too and a short walk to the start/finish on the village green.

In short: Good race - but keep it quiet!!
In full: Quality race this with a very friendly atmosphere. Keep the goodie bag minimal and keep the price down - good work.

Nice genuinely warm welcome at the finish - some trickier bits in the woods and hot bridal paths albeit all flat!

Maybe two improvements? The loud hailer was less than loud - we couldn't hear the count down! The second is showers. Would have been great to support the local pub if the showers had been opened for us.

But we'll be back - thank you and well done

Look forward to the results!

In short: Very nice setting, very warm morning
In full: Overall the race is quite good, but a few hiccups with race number collection and toilet queues delayed the start 10 mins. Course is quite flat on farm tracks and the like. Thought the goody bag was a bit lacking, but hey ho. The actual setting for the race is extremely nice and a game of cricket to watch at the end.

In short: Really well organised. Friendly marshals giving lots of support. Flat. Some wooded bits a little muddy. Overall, a great Sunday morning run!
