In short: Beautiful surroundings for a tricky little race
In full: The Good- beautiful scenery, friendly atmosphere and very good value

The Bad- marshalling could have been a little better. We were some of the slower runners, and at times we were uncertain of which route to take as there was no one else to follow! Some of the fields can be a bit tricky, with holes in the ground where I nearly turned my ankle several times. A medal at the end would also have been nice, although not a deal breaker as the event is otherwise good value for money

In short: Scenic, but tough 10k
In full: Course was a lovely off-road run around Englefield park and village - I was expecting maybe half off-road and half on, but it was nearly all off-road.
The course was tough, after a flat 1st kilometre it was then undulating for the majority of the course - even the flat parts was on energy sapping long, uneven grass - and the final hill near the end really saps your legs.
I enjoyed the day, but some observations for next year:
- Start went straight through a very uneven wooded section, right next to a lovely flat grassy area - with 200 or so runners dodging holes, nettles and trees it may be more logical to start on the even ground?
- Kids fun run could be done early so the parents could join in?
- 11am start wasn't a problem as wasn't too warm - but in August could be problematic if a hot day.
- Some areas of the course had some hidden holes and even barbed wire(!) which could have done with a marshall/sign to warn runners

In short: Beautiful setting, Tough Course
In full: The setting on the Englefield Estate was perfect, completely traffic free and well marshalled. The course however was extremely challenging, not only because of the numerous undulations, but many of the flatter sections were energy sapping due to the uneven surface and long grass. The organisation was excellent and there was a nice atmosphere. More training required before next year.

In short: The hills made it very hard work
In full: Beautiful scenery but it was certainly uneven for those used to running on the roads. I was about 6 minutes slower than I normally would be due to the hills/surface. However I probably would do this again

In short: Challenging but enjoyable
In full: Very friendly and well organised race. The course was quite hilly and quite challenging-but we all love a bit of a challenge don't we?It was a fairly small field of around 150 with quite a few club runners so it was quick;as a slow 68 min runner I was looking after the back! Very good atmosphere and the good weather helped. If you are looking for a nice Sunday morning challenge away from training this is a good little event and should be better supported.
