In short: Badly organised and miserable marshalls
In full: Flat course good for a PB. The strangest warm up I've done pre-race. Total confusion as to how many times around the track. There were only 60-70 people racing so not much atmosphere. Most of the marshalls looked like they would much rather be anywhere else but there. I smiled and just go blank faces back. One spent most of the race talking on his mobile phone. The exception was the guy by the Bromley Common end car park. He was friendly and encouraging. By the time I did my final lap of the park half the marshalls had wandered off.

I'd read the bad reviews for this race but thought perhaps they were being unfair and I would give it a chance, but never again.

BTW I did manage to find the results, eventually. A couple of weeks after the race an email came through with a link to their new website. Unfortunately on that site the link to the results just lead to the Apple website but if you view source of the web page you can find the link which is

In short: Badly organised, no times given which were promised - to date.
In full: Badly organised in my view - poor explanation of course, and immediately before the start too. Saw evidence of runners straying from route and not crossing the finish line. Marshalls I am sure saw this, did nothing. Many competitors felt race was 1/2 km short. Bromley Nuffield Health and Charity supported here are worthwhile and blameless - stretching exercises by the former pre-race was good. Referenced website at no point in time it seemed actually showed details of the race. Hence no point having PB potential if 4 days later it looks like the results are not forthcoming. Promised same day at the track - many people heard this. Personally will do the Bromley 5K park run next time - free every saturday, well run, prompt results.

In short: disappointing
In full: I thought I had a pb until i read the reviews, I thought that a little strange, still another 9.? km in the bank. It was poorly organised, luckily there weren't many people to confuse. The warm up, if you can call it that should have been an indication, then the announcer not being able to work out 1100 metres, was 2 3/4 laps rather than the 3 3/4 he stated. And I am still unable to access the results online. Happy I done a run saturday, medal is always nice, however, I will put this down to experience.

In short: A missed (actually a messed-up) opportunity.
In full: Norman Park is a fast, flat course, and there was a nice mix of abilities. Some aspects of the organization - registration, post-race stretch etc - were fine, but the starter/announcer was rather charmless and the course was below distance (either that or my Garmin has been misleading me for the past few years). Surely it shouldn't be that difficult to get the distance correct? Overall, a good, but rather expensive, training run: not a 'proper' 10km.

In short: Does NOT do what it says on the tin !
In full: If they can't even get the distance right..... My Garmin measured 9.7km and I had to do another 550m as I was going for a PB (9 secs...off...ah...). When I challenged the guy who was doing the announcements, he told me to get my Garmin checked ! Then went on to say "don't be too hard on us on the internet". I felt a bit bad, as I was grumbling to the organisers and my apologies to anyone if I got on their nerves (I was the skinny guy in orange if you want to slam me). There are so many superbly organised races these days (check the Run Richmond Park series) that these guys have got to pull their socks up. Especially as I understand the course was 500m short last year.

In short: UKA Gold Graded event?!?!
In full: Think the organizers have been telling a few porky pies here. According to run britain they don't have a UKA race license, yet alone a gold grading!

That said they seemed reasonably well intentioned, if slightly clueless about the organizing of the race itself. Doing a presentation where the prize winners are called up by Race number rather than name was an interesting first. The course itself was definitely not measured accurately, which is a shame, given it involved loops of a track at the start and finish, they could easily have adjusted it to the correct length. A loop of Norman Park itself is approx 1900m, so with 1350m round the track on the way out and then 750m on the way back the total race length was about 9.7km...

Fine if you are looking for a hard training run (which luckily I was) - if I was looking for a proper 10k, I would have been a bit p!!!ed off!

In short: Nice enough surroundings. Variation in surfaces. Needs better organisation.
In full: Ran this coming off an injury and using my Garmin. Based on the time I got and what GPS was telling me I'd guess the course was about 500m short. I understand this has been a problem here before. The majority of the run, with the exception of a few track laps, is just laps of the park and there aren't any barriered/closed sections - so you're running around whoevers using the park anyway. As such you could pretty much run this course without stumping up the race fee. The park is a good place for training runs and as its very flat, if they sort out the distance issue it could be worth going to, to try for a PB; but personally I think I'll pass on doing this run in future.
