In short: Well organised big 10k event for Kent In full: Living in Kent, this has to be my favorite local 10k race of the year. Starting and finishing in the athletics stadium gives it a real big event feel. This year it also incorporated the british masters so the turnout and standard of runners was very high. Although the course does undulate there are plenty of nice rolling downhill sections which in right conditions (2012 perfect) you can smash a PB. I managed 36.50 and finished 35th overall having set my previous PB at Deal 10k in July at 38.14. Will be there on the start line again in 2013! Date of review: October 24, 2012

In short: Very tolerant of disorganised runners! In full: The most excitement for me was getting to the Julie Rose Stadium on time having missed my train and arriving in Ashford 2.5 miles away from the starting line with 12 minutes to spare. Thanks to excellent support from staff/volunteers I managed to join the starting line in time as the 1000 or so runners set off around the track and into Ashford. A fairly straightforward, slightly undulating course, extremely well marshalled on closed off roads. A PB following a sprint finish around the stadium more than compensated for the earlier drama! In short: First time but I'll be back next year! In full: I watched my wife & her sister race this last year & thought I'd give it a go this time. The Julie Rose Stadium is a great setting, plenty of parking, toilets, changing, refreshments etc, also very good for spectators to watch the final 300 metre dash around the track to the finish line. The course I would describe as mildly challenging, there's a lot of ascents & descents but not very tough climbs, there were also two drinks stations in a 10k! One apparently is a mystery to the organisers, they just handed out bottled water bless 'em!. Lots of people out cheering & clapping the runners too which was nice. My wife's Garmin measured 6.25 miles too, very close to being exactly 10k, unlike other races we've come across & the extra .05 could just be the difference between running on the right side of the road for the optimum line. Organisation by Martin Burke & Nice Work was top notch, they know their stuff and everything ran smoothly & results were online quickly. A very nice race & I recommend it to everyone, from 1st time 10k runners upwards. Date of review: October 15, 2012

In short: Excellent organisation, not as flat as expected though! In full: Had to work hard to get a PB on this course, there a few hills especially just before the 5k point. Organisation was very slick and there were lots of marshalls out on the course. Date of review: October 15, 2012

In short: First class organisation In full: The crowds were wonderful. Few more ladies loos wouldn't go amiss. The atmosphere was terrific and I especially liked the Police in full riot gear crossing the finishing line together. The track was awash with spectators and a nice touch getting the medal from the Mayor Date of review: October 15, 2012

In short: Well organised race In full: Well organised, with good water stations, nice medal at the end and even chocolate biscuits!
Only slight negative, would be that there weren't enough toilets available, other than that, I will be back next year! :) Date of review: October 15, 2012

In short: Enjoyable Sunday morning In full: Another enjoyable 10k race (my 8th this year) managed a PB so well happy. Course is mildy undulating but nothing too hard. Closed roads are a bonus. Two water stops enroute, the first had 33cl (I think) size bottles which seem a bit of a waste as you only need a couple of mouthfuls and then throw the rest away) Overall organisation was good, although I nearly missed the start due the long queue for the toilets. There were some more toilets upstairs but they were marked for VIP's only! Wow you must be important if you get your own toilets! My tip would be to register before the day, this is a fairly large 10k race(1000 runners) and loads of us, including me left it until the day to register, cue long queues, although we were dealt with promptly. Marshalls all around the course were helpful and clapped as did the residents of Ashford. The end of the race, was excellent as it finishes with an almost complete lap of the stadium track and large crowds cheering everyone home. Plenty of parking and managed to escape without delay at the end. Medal is ok, nothing special, wouldn't have minded a t-shirt aswell :-). Will definitely do again next year! In short: A good race, great to be wearing the Vegen Runners vest In full: I havnt had my times back for this race yet, but it was very nice to be in a large race, running from the back, as i arrived late made me feel much better, since I passed many other runners but wasnt worried by a couple of dozen passing me Date of review: October 14, 2012
